I bought a Rane One soon after they came out. The deck faders from day one skipped and acted as if old and dirty. I know you'll need to send it in for warranty work. The problem is the issue was likely just how it is designed, maybe they fix the issue or most likely the technician would plug in and test the features, and like when we go to the doctor or take a car into the shop things work fine. I would get my controller back doing the same things. I decided to fix the issue myself for mere pennies. And this remained the only issue I would have with my Rane One until the motors went out of sync. Unlike the RANE 12s, they can recalibrate the sync between motors. RANE One doesn't have such a feature. The answer is to send it in to replace the motors. The RANE One looks brand new now and won't stay in sync. Yes, tried all the tips and troubleshooting RANE asked me to try, Serato asked me to do, Virtual DJ asked me to do, and many of the online tips and suggestions in different forums. If anyone knows of a method I can recalibrate my RANE One with, please share it, so I can try it out. I won't sell my RANE One because the repair will be costly for the person buying it. The REV 7 Pioneer technical support answered a question. Can the motors of REV 7 be recalibrated to be in sync when they eventually start to drift? Pioneer answered that the motors are not involved in the movement of the music. The software controls the music and the motors are for tactile interface only. So if the motors start to drift or spin at different speeds, they will not affect the playback of the music. I plan to buy a REV 7 with a 12-Inch Skin vinyl wrap to preserve the finish of the Rev 7. I own a DDJ SX-2 and the finish has worn off on it in places. I want to finish with I love your videos, dedication to providing accurate factual information.

I think it maybe comes down to playing style & needs. Both have features the other doesn’t, enough to make it a legitimately tough decision. As useful as those extra screens are, I like the Rane’s ability to add 3rd party tonearms and play real records, and the fact that it supports Djay Pro, plus the build you get for a few hundred less is worth noting.

I have both the Rane One & Rev7. I also have the Pioneer SX2. The Rane One, a few months in, the pitch is off center on both. It has to be slowed down equally on both sides to get the correct pitch zeroed. Other than that, no issues. I have never had an issue though with any controller I've bought from Pioneer. So, as it stands right now, it's the Rev7 for me, hands down. The pitch controll placement is not a deal breaker for me. I own a Rane One and that may be one of the biggest head scratchers (second only to the One having software fx only) that they didnt at least put the performance pads in the mixer section. I dont mind wherever the pitch fader is, I like both ways just fine. Overall I think I am happy I chose Rane over Rev7, i like pioneer gear but for the price, they often cut many corners that you dont notice until youve become totally familiar with the gear. For 1.9k, I dont want to feel like I can break the controller over my knee. The Rane One will absolutely break your knee. That is hugely important for mobile DJS that desire a quality, yet portable controller. The weight only inconvenienced me one time so far when I was performing at a music festival and couldnt find parking or load in parking near my stage and had to carry my Rane One 4 blocks to the stage lol. On Amazon The rain one has better reviews then the Rev 7. But I think it's simply because anybody looking to buy these controllers are probably coming from a controller so the rain one has the standard controller layout versus the rev7 has a battle style turntable mixer layout. The visual display on the rev7 really doesn't matter to most DJs who are good DJs because they never look down at that information. If you're coming from vinyl there is no center screen display so that part doesn't really impress or unimpress the average DJ. As far as durability who cares that the controller gets scratched up near the fader. Maybe that's a user error. Having the built-in effects is a plus for me but the flexibility of software would be best if you're working for an entertainment company and you have several different DJs that use different software. So it all comes down to functionality and use. If you're the only one using your DJ controller I would suggest getting the rev7, however if you're buying a controller for a company and most of your DJs already DJ on controllers anyway then I suggest getting the Rane One.

You peaked my interest regarding the Tidal bit because I also use Tidal for 90% of my DJing. When you mentioned #4, playing offline you said you can play tracks offline provided you downloaded the songs into your offline locker. I didn't think Tidal had that ability yet? Can you elaborate on what you were speaking abou there? I enjoy your videos!!

I have a gut feeling that The One MKII is going to be a real game changer. Taking into account the direction that InMusic is going, i'm thinking the next rendition of The One is going to be a standalone unit with WiFi streaming... a cross between a Mixstream Pro & Prime 2 with motorized platters w/ A-Trak'ish Seventy mixer section...Cherry on top, make it DJay Pro compatible & they'll have a Rev7 killer.

Reloop is coming out with controller that doesn't have moving platters but has jog displays with track info (no waveforms) and will be 4 channel with 4 effect paddles and will also have effect knobs that if you use Djay, will turn those into stems knobs with their AI thingy that somehow can make stems out of any track. Personally haven't been a fan of Djay but can't knock some unique features. The controller will support dvs so you could have spinning platters if you hooked turn tables to it. The Mixon 8 I think it is, coming out towards the end of the year. Something you may want to consider, I'm interested in it myself.

He Carlo, it,s a nice video but the dj,s of these days are spoiled with the gear, when i started with DJ you have a choice between Belt Drive turntable and Motorized (Technics SL1200MK2) so i learned the first 8 years of my dj career on Belt Drive turntables and that was really tough so for me is the Denon SC6000M is the Unique and the best digital DJ deck there is ever made (and played on Pioneer CDJ500, 100's, 800 MK1 and MK2 and 1000 MK1, MK2 and MK3, CDJ900 and CDJ900 Nexus, CDJ2000, CDJ2000 Nexus and NXS2 and now sometimes play on cdj3000 by a friend but the Denon wins loads faster than the cdj3000's sounds better more options but all of that still loving always to play with vinyl my dj set is a Pioneer DJM900NXS2, 3x Technics SL1210GR and 3x Denon SC6000M for me as Techno DJ and my love for Drum&Bass is a Third deck important and for 26years playing with 3 decks is that a standard for me to have, but a controller for me is no go and is not to trust to djing with a controller for a night than they are disappointed gear

Thanks Carlo for the video. A question from a Techno/Tech House DJ, is this a good upgrade of an old DDJ-SB2 setup ? It's purely for use in my home studio and while doing small gigs (50-100 people). I have had turntables from 1998 to 2006, I do know a little bit of scratching and I'm sort of willing to go back and implement some scratching in my livesets. I just need to know if it's a good upgrade for Techno/Tech House. There isn't much stock lately and from my sources at Pioneer DJ, there won't be much stock in the next 8-12 months either. I ám willing to put 1800-2000 euro into it.
@djcarlo
2 жыл бұрын
If you're going for generally tech house and techno, the DDJ 1000 would be a better upgrade if you can find stocks of it. I'd say the REV7 would've been good if you really scratched a lot, but since you only do a little bit, it would just be a very costly controller with features you may not need :)
