Two types of parasitic worms can infect humans: 1. Anisakiasis is caused by ingesting the larvae of several types of roundworm which are found in saltwater fish such as cod, plaice, halibut, rockfish, herring, Pollock, sea bass and flounder. 2. Tapeworm infections occur after ingesting the larvae of diphyllobothrium which is found in freshwater fish such as pike, perch and anadromous (fresh-saltwater) fish such as salmon....trout are anadromous same as salmon.

Just an FYI, the “worms” in those warm water spotted sea trout are larval stage tapeworms so yea you can ingest them and it won’t harm you but don’t try this with the “worms” in Codfish or other cold water fish, those are full grown nematodes and can actually attach themselves to your intestine in some cases

Used to work in a fish house in Florida and we got Sole fillets and cod fillets fresh and there is live worms in it
@churchether
3 жыл бұрын
Even in Norway, (where I'm at) there are most commonly worms in both the intestines, liver, and flesh (fillet) of the Cod (and most other species). This is common, research has also shown, that if there are a high amount of chemicals in the fish (lead and other chemicals from human processes) the worms and parasites can NOT survive. In sum, worms in the fish is actually a good sign, the fish meat is relatively clean from chemicals. We put the fillet in the fridge for 24 hours, and many times the worms will crawl out. (Disgusting yes) but easy to pick out. Just cook the fish well, and all is good. Happy fishing.

If you want to get all the worms out of the meat, I have a super easy trick. Take a glass baking dish or something like that put your fish fillets in it, then just pour a little bit of Coca-Cola over them, the worms will almost leap out of the meat. Then after a minute remove your fillets rinse them off with water and you're ready to go.

I notice that you suffocate the fish by putting it straight in the eski (cooler) but a great way to put the fish out of it’s misery and preserve the meat from rotting quicker is to 1. Brain the fish with a knife which you know will be done right if it seizes up and then 2. Cutting the throat bleed the fish which preserves the meat longer. I could be wrong about this but when ever you fillet the fish their necks and brains seem in tact, also if you teach this to your community it will help thousands of fishermen to get nicer meat and longer lasting meat whilst also being kind to the fish

Hey guys I posted this recipe on Kelly young channel, but when I saw you guys cooking trout I had to copy and paste it for you guys. Trout is actually the fish my mom and mom mom made this recipe with so had to share with you guys. By the way we also get worms in our trout and we fish out of crystal river. Were allowed 5 per day and 1 over 19in. Hope you guys like the recipe. Heres how we do ours and its incredible. Take foil and line the inside of a cookie sheet as this makes clean cup a snap. Next place a cookie cooling rack inside cookie sheet. This allows all the oil to drip off the fish and leave you a nice golden brown topping. For the most part we use 3 types of fish when doing this method and they are Trout, Red fish and Mangrove snapper. Place your fish on the rack and cover the tops and sides of fish with Kraft mayo. The amount of mayo you used on that trigger fish was about the same as we use. Also please do not get light mayo. The bad oils are all going to cook off and be left in the foil in side the cookie sheet. You can season the fish several different ways but we usually go S&P, Season salt , Cajun seasoning and Paprika. Recently I got turned on to a seasoning by Badia called Complete Seasoning and they sell it at Publix, and let me tell you its killer. Ill add lemon pepper and Lowry's garlic salt with Badia and thats been the new go to for the past few dinners using this method. Turn the oven on broil and place on top rack, should be just a few inches from the broiler. If the fillets are pretty thick drop it down one rack. Broil for 10-12 min. It should start to get Gold brown to kind of a blackened looking color. One thing for sure is the smell in the house will be killer. Hope you guys will give it a try because its one of the best ways to eat those types of fish.

one quick question, as I've only seen about 30-50 videos... do you like garlic powder? heh. seriously though do you have a vid somewhere WHY you bring your own when you travel? do you make it yourself or have a favorite brand? tip- because pomegranates are messy to process and stain alot, you can process them in the sink into a bowl of iced water, then the kernels will store in the fridge in a bowl of ice water for days. only a couple chunks of ice is enough, so long as the water covers them. if you want to juice them without the kernels, wrap them in cheesecloth and use an orange press. ps LIKE, PEOPLE, WHAT's with the VIEWS vs LIKES ratio? pps grapeseed oil is supposed to have a really high flash point if you want to play with that. onto the next video. sea you later

That ain't no trout I've ever seen, firstly trout are freshwater only, saltwater would kill them, secondly the fish has the spots of s Brook Trout save the Orange coloring along the sides of the belly, but the head is all wrong, so what kind of trout are they, or are they closer related to a steelhead or a southernly salmon. Yeah, they behave like trout, smaller bait yields better results than Big bait. Okay, now I heard you say they aren't trout, so now I feel vindicated, The head is completely wrong for a trout, but the Speckled sea trout is cool are they a real mild tasting fish or are they a strong salt water fish taste? The swim bladders from freshwater trout are completely transparent, like almost read a newspaper through it, transparent, they pop like balloons if you squeeze them. I prefer mild fish , and that is why I prefer fresh water fish. Trout from the Eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies have many different species of trout, and when caught fresh and cooked right next to the water, with a little butter the meat from them is so tender, and phenomenally flavored, but they are not easy to catch and very skittish, so skittish in fact that you wont get another bite from a trout for 30 minutes while they settle down, after you either catch one and the fight ensues, or if it threw the hook. The Bow river the comes from the Rockies runs through Calgary in the Province of Alberta, is classified as some of the Best Trout Fishing that can be had in the whole of North America, there were many visitors from the U.S. who came to Calgary for the world-class Rainbow Trout Fishing, but there is also Brook Trout, Cutthroat trout, Bull Trout, Golden trout and Brown trout, but our lakes have monster Lake trout the size of which would rival many saltwater species. Lots of good fishing here, the only problem is that travelling for good fishing is something the Canadian Government doesn't accept during the Covid Pandemic

Off topic but any opinion on Florida bluefish limits being brought down to three fish per person (on the east coast)? I am not a fan of blues myself but have not seen a significant decrease in numbers that would require a drastic change from 15 fish to three fish when most guys don't even keep close to 10 to begin with. Not here to start fights or point fingers at who is to blame for the "dwindling" numbers; just want other perspectives on whether or not taking away 12 fish (versus something like a 7 fish limit) is the right move.

Out here in Spain we have worms which they call “Anisakiasis” they are a type of “Nematode” worm and are very dangerous and if seen in fish would either recommend flash freezing the fish to possibly kill them or just throw the fish in the trash would be your best option.

All fish have worms, some you do not want to eat raw, some are OK. Just depends on what type of worm, Looking at those fish you call sea trout (Sea Trout that we have over here looks more like a Salmon), take a look at what the Queen of the river looks like "Grayling" migratory fish from rivers to the sea and back again

Oof. That looks like bull shark country. I wouldn't be wading in that, personally.

One week we caught a huge ray that started giving birth to loads of small white ones. No problem to handle the new born. Next week my son caught a small one, same size as the newborn. I grabbed it to unhook, it hit me in the side of hand. Soon I started seeing double, arm hurt all the way to shoulder. Unsafe to drive. No doctor for 50 miles. Druggist said to use clorox and away the symptoms went. When wading in sea water, shuffle your feet along to spook the rays rather than stepping on them.
