If this was done anywhere else it would have been weird. Just Imagine an assassins creed game set in Africa with an Asian protagonist. GoT is a great game. But do you have any idea how many historical inaccuracies it has??? There was no Jin Sakai who turned to stealth ninja-like arts to defeat the Mongols. Do you know what really defeated the Mongols? Their fleet was wiped out by back to back typhoons that hit Tsushima during the invasion. Whatever Mongols survived were chased away or killed off by Japanese forces. Do you not see the hypocrisy of people worshipping that game but attacking AC Shadows for historical accuracy? Ubisoft never claimed AC Shadows is 100% based on historical events. It is a fiction set against a real time period and real locations with real characters just like GoT, but not 100% historical fact.

According to the “Jesuit Annual Report of Japan”, "The black servant (Yasuke) that the Visitor (inspector) presented to Nobunaga, after Nobunaga’s death, went to the residence of the heir and fought for a considerable length of time. When a retainer of Mitsuhide approached him and fearlessly told him to hand over his sword, he did so. When Mitsuhide was asked by his retainer how to deal with Yasuke, he said, “The black servant is an animal who knows nothing, and he is not even Japanese, so do not kill him.” He decided not to execute him and said, “Place him in the church of the Pardre in India.” As a result, Yasuke was sent to the Nanbanji (Southern Barbarian Temple) and was spared. He was never a samurai, but merely a servant. This is the truth and the conclusion. If you doubt it, check the Japanese version of Wikipedia.

Yasuke's life: After the death of his lord, Nobunaga, he was the first to surrender to the enemy, and was spared execution because he was not a samurai. He left Japan with missionaries and returned to the path of slavery.

Remember back when people said “stop race swapping there’s plenty of black charters in history just use them” Look what we have here. An actual black man that was an actual samurai (regardless of his rank he was a full SAMURAI) that existed in our actual world. Few liberties were taken (like any game that mixed fact with fiction) but a black samurai that existed nonetheless. And here we are pissed off that they did the thing they said to do.

This is a race swap. Check all the older games. All the main playable character are characters from their region. Yet for some reason in the Japan one we don't get a Japanese dude. And you're telling me that isn't race swap? Why does Ubisoft keep their traditional pattern of having playable characters that are from their region yet the moment it's Japan. They race swap the playable character to a non japanese person?

Stop crying no one was pissed when adewale was the main character (if you know who he is) in the Caribbean.

In the Caribbean where there were numerous documented black African pirates and Captains? Exactly the same as one single black African guy in feudal Japan with a contested history. Now if Adewale has been indigenous Taino or Arawak it would be a much much closer comparison.
