I dont know if they(not olympians) swam daily or not but my dad said that his teacher or coach made them swim 5km as a warm-up
@boblangford5514
2 жыл бұрын
That sounds pretty standard for a very competitive year-round swim team. About 4-5 thousand warm-up, about 2000 main set, then about 1000 kicking, pulling, or breath control, and about 500-1000 cool down. I was a competitive swimmer in high school, and we did almost that much. We were closer to 7k meters per practice. Now, as an old man, I swim about 3k meters 3x per week.
@stevethebeeline44
2 жыл бұрын
Most competitive clubs training for national level competition can cover 5km in 1.5hrs. 600-1000meters would be the warm up on average. This can be done twice a day for 10km in a day. I’ve never heard of a 5km warm up.

I know the caloric levels are high but if one goes to any fast-food place where they must post the calories for each item, it is quite easy for anybody to ingest a very high amount of calories. At one breakfast place, a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit is 800 calories, three of those and you are well on your way. The key is to ingest nutrient-dense calories, which Phelps was aware of, and now is very good at doing with his family.

Do not do it. It will literally pause your digestion, make your stomach hurt while in the pool. You need readily available blood for your digestion system and if you add intense physical exercise at the same time, you can imagine what you will put your heart and body through. It's totally unnecessary. If anything, do make sure you are well hydrated and if you fancy anything eat prior to a swimming session, have some fruits about 1hr in advance. Been swimming for a while, I know a thing or two about this subject.
