Great Video Pat, very interesting about the black hole and the star HD 226868, that would make an interesting video to follow! Great Tulip from the Heavenly Back yard😀 clear Skies!

Great video, Pat. In addition to the excellent final image you came up with, I really enjoyed your adding in some background astrophysics information about the nearby black hole. I'm frequently guilty of just trying to get the picture and forgetting to actually learn something about the object(s) in my photos. This video is a good elbow to ribs to PAY ATTENTION to what you're taking a picture of. Thanks!

Thank you, James. Yes, I agree about details of the nature of the image environment. I want to know what makes things tic I suppose. Black Holes are in the headlines now with the new JWST so I am fascinated by them. What amazed me was that I ... ME ... could actually detect evidence of one from my own backyard ... amazing. I am waiting for some clear skies to fire up the 11" Celestron to see if I can detect more evidence. Currently, the clouds are winning the battle.

Hey Pat. Great captures of the Tulip! Regarding the ~ operation in pixel math, let's say you have an image called O3. If you do ~O3, it is identical to (1 - O3). It's just a shorthand way of doing that operation. Basically what you're doing with that formula is saying "OK, for the red channel, I want to use S2 where the O3 signal is strong and Ha where the O3 signal is weak". You can have a whole lot of fun with pixel math :)

Very interesting video and an awesome image of the Tulip Pat. They were all great versions but have to say I kind of like the Forax - SHO one the best, maybe because it's just a little different to the normal SHO.

Hi Logan, Can you see the "Tulip" from your latitude? The use of narrowband has opened so many doors. I do like the blend and I also like the HOO. I am hoping to get a peak at HD 226868 tonight or tomorrow night with the C-11. However, that moon will be awfully bright, but I won't be looking for nebulosity, so it might be of no issue.

Thanks Pat! Love these pictures from a fellow EON130 user. I plan to stick with my ASI533MC pro OSC for a while longer but this sure whets my appetite for trying narrowband one day soon!
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy

Hi "Amp", That ASI 533 is a good OSC. I caution you about monochrome and narrowband imaging ... once you try it, it's hard to go back. There is so much more you can do with a monochrome camera while using the appropriate filters. I Love the EON 130mm triplet. I have mine on the SkyWatcher EQ6-R pro mount.

@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy I know what you mean, and take your warning seriously. I'm taking my time with the 533, which I'm enjoying a lot. My EON is mounted on an old black 2004 model SkyWatcher EQ6 which I modified with a synscan goto kit. I still get 1"-2" guiding, and sub 1" on good nights from the old girl.

You like colors very much, but not green color, which is surprising. Why not to use 9 filters: SHaO+LRGB+Hb+NIR (Sloan-i). You could do NIR as red, Ha +S2 as green and O3+Hb as blue. Additionally, you will get proper color of stars via LRGB, not white uniform color, which you get after a lot of processing.
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy

Thanks, Ana, Hmmm, that looks like a good challenge. I will need to acquired a few more filters to get it to work. Speaking of green, I just posted a video about the "Green" comet ... C/2022 E3 ZTF ... kzitem.info/news/bejne/lYCtx4Wdi4SQbG0

So annoying, but this is Pat so maybe I will just watch in small segments so that I don’t miss good info over my pet peeve.
