It's crazy how you'll hear the same themes repeated in an Aphex track, but very rarely exactly the same way twice. It's always changing and evolving.

It's like he always finds a way to make the synths cry out in unity over the tragedy of the human experience we all have to face on our own but this music is something collective that brings all that frustration and melancholy out to the real world for people to resonate with, come back to and preserve the emotion for however long the data is available to us. It's really quite a noble thing musicians and artists do, not really recognized often enough for how much value it can bring to people's life. To be able to transfer your internal state so accurately and intricately into sound or any medium is something i can only strive for, but it feels a lot better than not trying at all.

The bassline in this song is insane. I wonder how he arranges these songs, if he hears a certain section first and builds off of that or if he has it all planned out before. I know he tinkers with machines to get weird sounds, maybe he’s got a memory bank of sounds and remembers them later.

Judging by the percussion sounds and general production style (lots of layering, more range of timbre and shit?) this is like a Syro era B side probably right?
@wazerkus-9393
3 жыл бұрын
Several charts off of Syro were in fact extras from The Tuss era. RDJ has stated that himself. It's pretty relevant in tunes like 4 bit 9d and Earthportal mix, very similar tones/oscillations and rythm.

Tuss tracks and a lot of Syro were made around 2006/2007. See also Analord 10, which was released in 2005, although feels like it should/could have been released 20 years after drukqs and still felt futuristic

Hot Skillet Mama sometimes when you hear something so good you just make a decision that nothing can be better than this. But usually that feeling you get is attached to an emotion that might not resonate the same with another person. So someone might not understand why a person would think this song is his best when obviously it’s ziggomatic

Also judging by this track title it seems he used a Roland S-770 sampler unit rack, not sure what the 3000 refers to but powertran is the Powertran Transcendent 2000 synth. With the release of these unreleased tracks he seems to have given more info on what gear hes been using.

CAT 189 yeah I was just listening to the Korg tracks cuz I bought a monologue and noticed he used an MR16 on Korg 1b, which I find pretty interesting as it's a sort of rare drum machine that is still pretty cheap despite being 30~ years old. It's pretty janky sounding but it was the first drum machine I fell in love with so it was cool to hear him use it.
