The Two Moors Way, walking 120 miles with a lightweight rucksack and using a bivvy and tarp.
In May 2017 I walked along the beautiful Devon coast to coast path along The Two Moors Way, some 120 miles which goes from Wembury in the South across Dartmoor and Exmoor to Lynmouth in the north.
This video covers the whole trip and looks at the route and the various daily scenes of each day as I pass through some of the most hidden parts of our country, which many often miss in the rush to get to Cornwall.
I approached this trip from a lightweight backpacking perspective, with a sub 8kg pack and intending to wild camp and sleep using a tarp and bivvy. This proved to only be possible for a few nights, partly due to the weather and partly due to lack of wild camp opportunties. However this video shows the whole trip warts and all, and may encourage you to visit this lovely part of the world.
The walk itself isn’t too hard, providing you don’t carry too much and my advice would be to plan your camping well in advance to ensure it removes all the worry about where to sleep at night.
