Christmas Night with the Stars 1972 was the last of its kind of Christmas night shows that the BBC made. This edition aired from 6.55pm-8.15pm on Monday 25th December 1972 on BBC One. It was hosted by the Two Ronnies, who introduced specials of shows such as Dad's Army, Mike Yarwood, The Liver Birds, The Goodies, their own show Two Ronnies and Cilla Black.

The line-up of stars reminds me of jokes in two other programmes. In the radio show "Hello Cheeky" (Barry Cryer, John Junkin, Tim Brooke-Taylor) they did a spoof run-through of an evening's TV schedule, starting with the Cilla Black show with guests Harry Secombe and Lulu, followed by the Lulu Show with guests Cilla Black and Harry Secombe, and so on. Then there was the Christmas edition of Porridge in which Ronnie Barker as Fletcher complains about last year's prison turkey having 28 legs and no breast, like Lulu and the Young Generation!

27:35 One of my favourite "Two Ronnie's" sketches. Let's be honest for a lot of people Christmas is just an excuse for a p*** up isn't it? I remember my late father howling with laughter when he saw this. He had been in a supermarket just about that time and he noticed a couple doing their weekly shop, every time she put something he would moan at the price. " Have you seen the price of those baked beans!" etc. As they got to the booze counter this bloke suddenly starts putting bottle after bottle of wine etc in their trolley. My dad couldn't resist it any longer, he said to him "Eh, have you seen the price of that sherry?" This guy just gave my dad a funny look 🙄

Dads Army would have been the best act on the show, Mike Yarwood, The Liver Birds and the Goodies would have been good too. There’s always a Scrooge somewhere ready to block the merriment! STOP PRESS: the show is intact elsewhere on KZitem at 1 hour 19 mins!

@@PIERCED6966 "The Two Ronnies Christmas Night with the Stars 1972" - means just the Two Ronnies bits of it, as Christmas Night with the Stars was the official title of the programme. @@johnking5174 I know this may come as a shock to an idiot such as yourself but the program was called " Christmas Night with the Stars 1972"Hosted by the Two Ronnies. www.thetvdb.com/series/the-two-ronnies/episodes/201192 Do yo think if i want to watch for argument sake Lew Dawson's Blankety Blank and the only parts of the show were of Les Dawson and not the actual show that would still be logical? ANYWAY, THANKS FOR TURNING UP 8 MONTHS LATE TO GIVE YOUR SHITE OPINION! i'VE HAD THE FULL UNEDITED EPISODE FOR 8 MONTHS.

@@johnking5174 no. It means the two Ronnies present a group of Stars. It doesn’t say ‘The Two Ronnies bits only on Night with the Stars’
