A major announcement from the University of Utah Wednesday afternoon that could help people who have lost a leg walk freely again. ksltv.com/507776/the-u-unveil...
I’ve been helping with testing this leg for about a year. I just walked on this leg a few days ago with an Ottobock engineer from Vienna there to observe. This is a game changing partnership. I hope to have a version of this leg at home someday in the future. I am always amazed at the difference I feel after walking on this leg then switching back to my current leg.

Would it be able to be used for people with 2 limbs missing? (Both below the knee) Also, do you have any inside knowledge of price/availability?

@@davidgaddy4328no, it's not better than X3. slightly better than the C-leg. will cost about $100,000. FDA approval is 10 yrs. out. Ottobock just got involved to see what it can learn from the leg but this leg will never be commercialized.

@@murc111 No, this is for above-knee amputees. price is set at 100K but you will need to wait 10 yrs. for FDA approval. this leg isn't any better than X3 and not much better than C-leg. so unless this leg gets much cheaper, this is not a better product than what's already available on the market.

available commercially soon but please make it affordable especially in the philippines with so many poor amputees just like me. ottobock brand of prosthesis are expensive here in the philippines.

you need to wait 10 yrs. before this gets FDA approval. that's the latest news. this leg is better than C-leg but not as good as X3 Genium. I don't know why Ottobock got involved with this thing.

You got a deal- my BK prosthesis cost $38k… in 2011. I’ve since invested over $12k into it- mostly Ottobock components. Worth every Penny albeit likely proved much higher than cost but let’s allow that to stimulate advanced R&D; it’s money that drives a big part of each new advance created & launched into the market - I’m fine with cost as long as programs exist to help those ppl unable to buy the equivalent of a new Mercedes’ or Ferrari with a bionic leg like this - above knee legs that work already start at $90-$100k
