If only. I'd love to see them do 4 things: 1. Just more rayman merchandise. Rayman hoodies, hats, figures, cups/glasses/mugs/coasters, stickers, etc... 2. Remaster of Rayman 1, 2 and 3 in a bundle. (including for rayman 1 the unreleased rayman 2 prototype as an unlockable and even the gameboy color version that lets you fight mr dark without needing those cages (and a cool retro look). If it does well throw a new bundle of Rayman Legends and Origins without the ubisoft login requirement. 3. Rayman TV Series. There was a pitch years ago that failed with 4 episodes and Billy West played Rayman and I bet you he'd want to do it again. If rabbids got 2 seasons, Rayman should get a series too! 4. More Rayman spinoffs and rereleases of them. Remember Rayman M/Arena? Stuff like that; Rayman pinball, Rayman costumes in other games, Rayman Golf I don't know; just go crazy! But at the top of those 4 I'd love to see a new rayman game. Can be rayman 1 style, rayman 2 style or rayman legends I don't care. Even the dream Rayman 4 would be up there. Sadly as Eric said, they'd most likely buy the IP and either forget about it (Like Epic Games did with Jazz Jackrabbit) or just gives nods to it. But I hold out hope! No matter how small!

Most of tencent's portfolio are free to play or mobile games so of course they're pay to win/filled with microtransactions, that's the whole business model of that segment. If they're going to keep developing Ubisoft's IP as AAA titles that same model doesn't really apply and it would be interesting to see what they do. They won't keep the same copy paste blueprint model that Ubisoft uses for all their franchises.

Wonder if DEI ended Ubisoft (as it seems to had destroyed so many franchises past five years)? By going private it may mean the business wouldn't have so many shareholders especially ones with specific ideology jumping down their throat or pushing diversity quotas? And perhaps the game devs and creatives are going back to passionate gaming/taking risks instead of wasting time utilising political agendas or tick boxes ie. kick politics and their minions out of gaming.🎉

I mean... this isn't the first time this has happened. I remember a while back when Vivendi was trying to take over Ubisoft, and they were fighting tooth and nail to keep them at bay. In fact, I'm pretty sure Tencent had something to do with that whole thing. Like, Tencent getting involved is what ultimately put a stop to Vivendi's advances. Having said all that... does mr. beat them up not know who Tencent is? They own like a gazillion things. Or rather, they have a controlling stake in a gazillion things. Riot and Epic are the big ones, but they've bought their way in to quite a few companies in the gaming industry. I don't think they have anything to do with actually MAKING games, they just invest in stuff. So, that, combined with the fact that Ubisoft games are ALREADY riddled with microtransactions designed to nickel and dime users as much as possible, honestly, I don't think Tencent would be much worse than what already exists. Could be, sure, but I don't think it's really that big a deal. Ubisoft is already in the shitter, they've been circling the drain for years, they've been over-monitizing their stuff for even longer, and just... idk man, who cares? Ubisoft is cooked. Tencent can have 'em.

Not that I am super on board with mega companies continuing to buy up businesses, but I am interested to see if there is much of a change with it not being at the whim of shareholders. I think so many companies if they are on the market are constantly trying to make more money than they did last year. Being profitable when you have shareholders isn't enough. It doesn't matter how many millions/billions in profit you make if you don't make more than the last year. Maybe they focus on rebuilding reputation with players. But like I said its Tencent we are talking about here. I just feel like companies going back to privately owned might be better for them.

So they finally got to that stage. Tbh this is not new, there had been talk of Ubisoft going private and being bought out by a PE firm a few years back. PE isn’t necessarily bad for a company, what most people confuse is PE and leveraged buyout, which I don’t really think will be the case here because Tencent is known for internationalization via M&A and they likely don’t want to use debt to resell Ubisoft later when it still has strategic value to them. Side note: Tencent owns shares in a ton of other studios and companies already.

Yeah, putting in your credit card numbers does not equal gameplay haha, but Ubisoft, EA and Activision seem to think it is. I've never actually spent a single penny on microtransactions, never will, I don't even like DLC as a thing, unless it's a full game expansion, but that is something that almost never happens sadly now days, member GTA IV's Ballad of Gay Tony + Lost & Dammed Expansions, or RDR1 Undead Nightmare, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, HL2's Episodes, Bioshock's Minerva's Den, Fallout New Vegas, even Nintendo had a crack at it with BOTW's The Champions' Ballad (sadly they never repeated this afaik, a Mario Odyssey Expansion game would have been amazing), now you never really see these full fleshed out expansions that offer several hours more gameplay, often even improving on the main game. Now instead of this, we see remaster after remaster, instead of remastering a game 2 years after it came out to help keep dev houses afloat & relevant, why not make a full-fat expansion to it, this always worked so well because the groundwork and game engine was already done, at that point the devs have got a rhythm and that's why so often expansions were so good, Diablo II LOD, C&C:Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge, COD's United Offensive, Oblivion's Knights of the Nine & Shivering Isles, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Batman Arkham City's Harley Quins Revenge (Arkham Knight was way too complicated, so many DLC's that were story based, but would have been much better as a full expansion, there were over 50 bucks worth of DLC in the end lol that were all just mid, instead of City's much higher quality brilliant full-expansion game that only cost 10 bucks or so, Knight's DLC is an example of how not to do it, yet is now the norm sadly) my days we had it good though didn't we, the gaming industry has really fallen of a cliff, I know Cyberpunk 2077 has just had a proper, full-fat expansion released for it, but afaik, that is a rare exception. Sorry for the long post, a little stoned.

The games are what they are and well established with loveable characters (Rayman), rhythm games, (Just Dance) and action/adventure titles (Assassin's Creed, Farcry and Splinter Cell). But Nintendo will always do Nintendo stuff, so even if they bought it, there are a fair amount of risks involved incorporating them into their library. And we all know Nintendo sometimes doesn't do the "common sense" route with beloved IP's and lets them sit on shelves for decades. Rayman needs another good 3D adventure.

This is not good / you keep buying microtransactions they going to keep making more games / and put them in / say no to microtransactions and stop buying them and they will stop / we can go back what games once was and get great games again / skins weapons suits of armor / we supposed get them for free / not to be paying for them / but unlocking them while you play the game / that makes more sense

Epic is private and owned by Tencent, it’s doing great. Definitely better than Microsoft buyout.

If they sell to Tencent, expect them to make Ubisoft worse. The only thing valuable in Ubisoft is the IP's themselves, so expect them to be milked to death, moreso than they already are. Expect a mobile version of Siege, and various gacha style games with Ubi IP's. A Rayman Candy Crush clone, Tom Clancy AFK Arena clone, etc.

You're living under a boomer rock... mobile gaming has been mainstream for over a decade, and the Switch pretty much proves that Asia prefers it lol
