I would love to have native turtles in the UK, however the european pond terrapin went extinct naturally a few thousand years ago, so not sure about reintroduction.

It's good to see people my age (I'm 17) caring for animals as much as I do

Almost all reptiles here shown went extinct naturally, except the european tree frog. I'm not sure "needs to rewild" is the right term here, as often natural extinction is not something to be interfered with.

Thank you for showing the importance of reptiles and amphibians. They are often overlooked by people unfortunately.

I feel a word of caution is necessary here. People should not take it upon themselves to breed and release animals into the wild. I don't know the exact intricacies of the legislation but I do know there is legislation in place. Also re-introducing animals that have been gone for a very long time can have a negative impact on our current species and some of those species are already rare. The Wall lizard is a good example of this. I am a Reptile Surveyor volunteer for Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust and we have seen the effects of the Wall lizard (non-native) on Sand lizard and Common lizard populations. I think we all want rewilding but it has to be done responsibly

Agreed, stop trying to re introduce the larger animals and predators, and concentrate on what can work in an overpopulated island.

What a great video! What brilliant young guys! It's younger people like them that will be the ones inspiring and educating kids, getting them involved with conservation and a love of animals at a young age. They're doing a fantastic job...I hope you video helps give them lots more supporters.

Wow I hope UK will have luck with the reptiles and amphibians reintroductions. I'm not sure about the western green lizard here in Hungary the where is no enough food and space for both of them, the eastern green lizard diplace the sand lizard. For a long time the eastern green lizard was the rarer species but in the last 30-20 years its turned. But I belive in this guys they know what they doing. BTW arent there escaped european pond turtles in the UK?

Didn’t know there were still Aesculapian snakes in the UK. Have they been reintroduced or are they escaped pets that have started breeding?

There's 3 populations of Aesculapian snakes in the UK. I believe two of them are from zoo escapes, and one of them are from pet releases or escapes. There's a population in : Colwyn Bay, North Wales South london canals. Bridgend, South Wales.
