Fantastic comprehensive review of the LG 32GQ950. As a mechanical engineer as well as owning a drone photography, videography and inspection company herd in Toronto, I prefer the efficiency of an identical dual display setup.

I just got a used Lenovo P920 and with I have dual 2080ti's running 4K displays and I too love it for productivity, basic AI research and gaming. Using an extra GPU - each with its own monitor offers some advantages for CUDA programming and gaming performance. The thinkcenter 920 is the largest computer I've ever owned, their selling used for only 500 USD and the only one that supports supports dual GPUs out of box even if its "almost" outdated

I had 27inch 2x DELL S2721DGF, for almost 2 years, & now having 38inch LG 38GN950B, I use ultrawide for 4 months now, and I can say what, ultrawide is awesome, but 2 27inch monitors for work is better, I miss it...

Why are 2 smaller monitors better for productivity?
@ToMmYonn
11 ай бұрын
@@raphaeldwain7834 becuase ultrawide is like using one big screen, yes you can split windows, but if you open app that window is big enough, it covers all you windows or entire screen, then on dual monitors, one is always sit where you left it, & if you open something it open's only on one monitor.

Hehe about the same conclusion as me, this is the best 32" 4K monitor for me since it's so color accurate and has very good picture quality and does 10-bit @160 Hz. BUT, it's not worth the price for that poor HDR support. It just happens to be the perfect monitor for my mixed usage of work and gaming right now. I will eye OLED and try to follow the news updates about MicroLED in a few years before I look for another monitor though. So I do not regret my purchase abit! And kudos for the swedish intro music :D

Since I currently have a 27" QHD Acer monitor I may go for that LG ultrawide and have the Acer on the side as extra real estate. Definitely would benefit from the backlight on the LG too so looks like I'll have to shell out for it.

Thanks bro - I think being 4K, high refresh rate, Gsync compatible, nano IPS, etc. and keeping in mind that LG is a fine maker of panels, you do get what you pay for here. At the time, it was a bit tricky to find monitors that are both great at gaming and productivity. Newer OLED panels now are great for gaming, but with the risk of burn in aren’t great for productivity tasks. I think this monitor is a nice sweet spot, especially at 32”.

Thanks Isaac! As long as you keep it on the fast mode at 144Hz it’s totally fine when gaming. It’s only on the fastest mode at 160Hz when things can get a little hairy, so I usually avoid that.

Really enjoyed the breakdown of the specs and quality of this! I two just got these dual monitors on sale through prime day. I’m very impressed with it ,however I’m new to using dual monitors since I wanted to have setup similar to this and I was gonna ask if you have any recommendations settings for each monitor. I know it’s nowhere near oled but the black levels on this panel is so much better than any other ips panels.
@TwoByteThomas
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I didn’t really mess with the settings as I found it nicely calibrated out of the box. The only setting I did turn off and would recommend is that smart energy saving mode. And yeah, nano IPS is still fantastic with that wide colour gamut. Still not OLED but contrast ratios are still decent here, without any risk of burn in, so for content creation/productivity I’d still go with nano IPS over OLED because of the burn in risk with OLED. I think now the best middle ground is mini LED if you’re looking for contrast ratios without burn in risk.

Hey there! It hasn’t been too noticeable. The light can hit it sometimes and it cause some glare, but I only notice it a bit when it’s a harsh light. Apart from that it doesn’t affect the picture quality and I’m loving the colours on this panel. And yeah, I’d definitely wait for a sale on this. I think this monitor is still regularly discounted to 999 USD which is still expensive but more reasonable.

Hi, do you still like this setup or any regrets not keeping the 38? I'm not sure which way to go.. how about a 38inch plus a second screen-why didn't you go that route? Is 4k a noticable improvement over the 38?
@TwoByteThomas
Жыл бұрын
Good question. No regrets. I wanted the 32GQ950 from the beginning. So that plus the 38 was a little too wide for my desk. As I mentioned here since I want it to be aesthetically pleasing I didn’t want two different sized monitors with different heights, as well as I want my monitors to have the same resolutions. But that’s just me. For my own specific work, I currently like having this setup. But you can’t go wrong with the single 38 or this. Just depends on what your situation and what you’re using it for. I have a review on the 38GN950 so you can check that out if you wanted. Cheers and thanks for watching.

I am bit confused on 27 vs 32 inch 4k, I am software engineer, need monitor for programming only (no gaming) but high refresh rate at least 120hz. These two lg ultragear way to go. I am using macos (macbook m2 max). So not sure which one should buy 32 or 27? I prefer pixel should not noticeable from normal viewing distance.
@TwoByteThomas
Жыл бұрын
I don’t notice any pixels up close on this monitor at 4K if that helps. In my opinion 32 inches is a great size for a 4K monitor. That being said, if you’re not going to be gaming, then this monitor is overkill. There are likely cheaper options out there.
