It would be great if you guys could talk about how to run nutrition with a budget! As a lot of things mentioned on the podcast aren't affordable for everyone (including myself, as a student!).

Yeah. Calories are cheap. Nutritious calories are not (necessarily). There are some highly nutritious inexpensive foods out there, but a full episode rounding out a complete micro and macro nutrient rich and balanced diet would be great. A list of nutritious micronutrient rich inexpensive fruits and vegetables plus the least expensive way to get high protein content.

Eggs were my best friend in University lol and a proper whey protein from a legit company only 2 things you need to hit that protein as a student.

I go to Costco and buy Bison, bacon, Greek yogurt, honey and berries. I eat bacon and bison every meal. After dinner I’ll have Greek yogurt and berries with some honey and chia seeds. I can feed myself for a week for under $100 a week.

Rice, corn, beans, potatoes, fruits & vegetables are cheap. Stock up on those & only drink water because soda costs more & is terrible for you.

The price of junk food went way up, with Doritos being $5-6 a bag now, it's hard to even bring yourself to buy it at the store, so if you can get it out of your diet now, you'll also save a bunch of money. Same with fast food, the costs have gone up quite a bit in the last 3-4 years.

One thing that's really helped me is just managing the volume of food. It's probably the main benefit of intermittent fasting, you can function on a lot less food than you think once your body adjusts to your new routine.

Thank you for the conversation gents. I had an epiphany a while back when I saw that a 20oz Monster with sugar has over 200 calories and I equated it to the 50g of protein that could replace it in the diet budget.

@@frankiegunnz8066 if the calorie budget is a certain amount, I try not to waste them on unhelpful nutrients. 50g of protein or fibrous carbs serve me much better than 50g of sugar.

Want good treat - frozen fruit, greek or islandic yogurt and protein powder - mix it all up and top it with crushed rice cakes (If you got macros to spend) and you got yourself ice cream that is super healthy and macrofriendly... FYI - Nick's ice cream is awesome but recipe I reffered is better as far macros.

Foods nowadays are made to be addictive. It's harder for us to switch from bad food to healthy food. For some, it takes years. Similar goes for salt. We don't need to costume salt the way we've been told. Eat healthy, and you'll have all your salts and nutrients without adding salts, sugars, and extra flavorings and spices to make it delicious. Chemicals kill, so it takes time to get on the right path. Stay consistent. Start with drinking electonized water (buy your own, water electronizer) & water distiller. Higher PH water is better for us than coke, Gatorade, or a healthy marker drink...

What is electronized water? And distilled water is bad to drink bc it depletes your minerals
