Do i need a beginners guide? No. Do i watch Strats Guide the moment it appeared? HELL YES! I would add to the guide the recommendation to go to any empire town and talk to the arena manager until he lets you into the practice fights. savest way and arenas to learn combat and easiest to be the last men standing. and that gives 250 Gold. you also get some levels in your skills without any repercussions. Heck, i do 4 to 5 every time i start a new game to double my starting money and enable myself for some smithing or the additional arrow stack.

Small addition: If you plan to take on a bandit camp, first check the surrounding villages for the "bandit camp near X" quest. They will pay you to clear the camp. Then check the nearest city for the "X(some gang leader) associates captured by bounty hunters" quest. That one will also pay you to clear the bandit camp. You can accept both quests at the same time (you cannot accept the same quest a secound time while the first one is still active) and you will get a lot of money on top of the loot from the camp.

A tip for early tournament/trade routes. Walk into any town and head to the arena. Ask the Arena owner if there are any tournaments in nearby towns and they will give you the location of two tournaments. If you travel to one of the towns you will almost always make it in time to participate in that tournament. If you compete in the tournament, repeat the process by asking the local arena owner again and you will get two new towns. By selecting the highlighted town name in the dialogue you can track the towns to find them on the map easier. Once you have a tournament in mind to compete in, look at the towns between you and the tournament town. Keep these towns in mind when checking trade rumors on various trade goods before heading out. By reinvesting your tournament winnings into trade goods to sell on your way to the next tournament you can secure some quick profits that require almost no risk provided you can maintain a decent travel speed. Also as your number of tournament wins increases the amount you can earn from betting on yourself decreases. Early on you can make 1k profit per tournament, as you climb the leader board it eventually drops down to a mere 100-200g
@monkeyleechkoalannja
Жыл бұрын
To add, the more lords are in a tournament, the more better the price would be. I just had a tournament with a mere 3 lords, but I was able to get a tier 6 horse which sells for 17k at game's first 2 weeks, then a 58 armor helm for 16k. So later on dont mind the low betting profit, but look out for tournaments with lots of lords for better gear to use or sell

The main campaign honestly helped quite a bit in terms of learning combat. I remember the "ah-ha!" moment while practicing archery when I realized I could hold down the trigger button for better accuracy (I was just one tapping it...). One thing I'd probably add to the guide is switching between perspectives while not on the campaign map. There are a few instances where first person perspective helps immensely - such as mounted melee combat - especially considering swinging low vs. high (I kept swinging high when trying to hit footmen). Despite this guide being over a year old it's nice to reference, even if you're not a beginner.

A beginner's guide? That's something I needed... 2 years ago, I guess. Good job, man! I hope you'll also make the second part of it, featuring smithing, marrying, gathering reputation, creating your own kingdom, recruiting clans... A few things I'd like to add for now: 1. Experience you get to level your character up is not the same as the experience you gain in each skill. Using skills increases your lvl exp regardless of whether you progress in this skill. 2. Try investing some focus points in all the skills you prefer to use, and then add more as you progress further. E.g rather than having 3 FP in Riding from the start, better have 2 and add the third one once your Riding is 70 or more. Meanwhile, an extra point can go to boost your leadership, trade or steward that you'll be using anyway. 3. Some tourneys are easier to win than others. E.g. I hate the Battanian ones because you often get in a situation when you have a two-hander and the opponent has a bow. Use kicks (default is "E") to win one-on-one in melee. 4. Improving your reputation with anyone gives you Charm exp. You get a lot of it by sparing enemy lords after you defeated them and quests like Caravan Ambush or Extortion by deserters. 5. The aforementioned quests are the best, IMO, as they involve guaranteed combat with a spawned party, not with some looters that are already running around. Prefer them over Escort caravan or Deliver a herd - quests that take too much time and travel. 6. Killing bandits in towns (Waterfront or Alley) is an easy source of renown and Charm exp. If you buy a two-hander suitable for 'civil use' (see an icon), you'll basically one-shot them. 7. Smithing is the best skill) It's not just great for customizing your weapon but also an insanely easy way to make money. Watch a dedicated video about it. 8. You should start building your Governers, be they companions or family members, as soon as possible. Because it takes an insane amount of time. 9. You can actually monopolize markets by buying a workshop, switching it to something else, and then selling. Be the only Calradia's producer of Silverware, Velvet, Oil or wine or whatever - and you'll have no financial problems. 10. Scarcity is your opportunity when trading. Just captured towns or towns with ransacked villages have food shortages you could profit from. Cheap wood from Battania, for example, could be sold at quadrupled price in a neighbouring kingdom. You can easily guess where Fur is the cheapest and where it's expensive. Same goes for salt, dates, whatever. If you're lazy to wait for scarcity, create one)

Yeah I could maybe do another video like this for the mid game - my main goal was to get as wide coverage as I could for the early game so people could figure out what they wanted to go and have a few tips to help them out. Hey Strat, I have a couple friends starting on Bannerlord and I've sent them your videos and databases, but they got overwhelmed pretty fast. I guess it's easy for us that have been following Bannerlord since its release, but those new to Bannerlord or even M&B have a pretty hard time following it all. For companions and spouses, wouldn't it be easier to add a Tag column to the database so new players can filter by tags? Maybe something like "Scout", "Engineer", "Great if leveled", "Ready to use", "Great gear" or things like that? I mean, I always pick Hafisa because I want a Steward I'll level up and I want my spouse to be at the party at all times (baby factory!), but I had to explain why I find Hafisa a better pick than Phaea, with that beefy stats... And that sent us down to the "Level up" rabbit hole... Same with weapons, tags like "Open field", "Narrow spaces", "Duels", "Multiple opponents", etc., would be great! Anyway, I love your videos and I'm excited about the Bannerlord releases! Trying to figure out a way to welcome the new players :D

For example, like you suggested best scouts, best low level nobles, best companion for intelligence roles, etc. That way people who just want a quick and dirty answer can get it and move on, but also have the database for those who want to deep dive. Manipulating the database is no easy task - I've spent probably close to 1000 hours using Notion up to this point and I still struggle with it sometimes lol. Regarding cultures, I could see Empire as being a decent culture if you plan on personally owning a lot of settlements and not handing them off to vassals, for the garrison cost reduction. Also, empire has the largest number of settlements on the map so you have that as an advantage in terms of matching your culture to the settlements you own.
@Strat-Guides
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was tempted to include them as well, but there is a bug that I don't think has been fixed yet - the bonus is actually tied to empire towns and no the culture. So any Empire towns you have will have it no matter which culture, but having an empire culture character and owning non empire fiefs will not work. I have not seen if they fixed it yet for full release though so don't quote me on that!

It pains me that there are no extremally low lvl companions, 'blanks' to min max them as they are needed. I personally pretty much always fill only QM and have horde of companions covering the rest of roles (as well as some future commanders/bodyguards, mixed-cultures governors and caravaneers). I know it is suboptimal but I cannot stop myself

A suggestion that is far from new and serves as support for any "build" is to participate in combat in the arena repeatedly at the beginning of the game. I don't deny that this requires time, patience and fighting boredom (usually I always watch a video on KZitem to distract myself), but it offers free money (depending on your performance and time dedicated), practical training in combat skills (no risk of getting hurt or "real" dying) and the passage of time is "stopped" while you are parked in the city (remember that your character is not immortal and time is essentially valuable). I always dedicate a generous amount of time to this training because I can develop my character to a "satisfactory" level, which gives me the possibility of saving money, strengthening the protagonist as a warrior and prioritizing the development of skills early. It is a strategic - and qualitative - way of investing in the character's immediate future without taking concrete risks and it is generally at the beginning of the journey that we face the most critical challenges and limitations. I also adopted this method in Warband. I'd rather spend weeks preparing my character in advance than starting the adventure in an amateurish and crude way at its normal pace. Even though you are an experienced and skilled player, a weak, inexperienced and poor character is very vulnerable to all sorts of problems... and all improvement is gradual. The focus involves taking a secure "shortcut" in this (long) process. Furthermore, it's good to know that it's easier and faster to level up when the campaign has just started. And just to finish, I would like TaleWorlds to create other more dangerous and challenging options in arenas - even if they require payment - that offer better rewards. There could be a "survive" mode to fight endless horde or a "veteran" version where you could only fight enemies with good armor. The potential is immense.

My bad if this sounds like a dumb question but why would you turn off the ability to die in battle? Wouldn’t that just make you invincible? Unless you can get seriously injured or something
@Strat-Guides
Жыл бұрын
So the setting turns off the RNG roll for your character to actually die, not to be confused with losing all the HP in a battle and being in a "downed state" which means you just sit out until healing back up. So for example, with death off, no matter how many times you go down in battle, you will never lose your main character permanently. With death turned on, each time you go down to a non-blunted weapon you have a chance to permanently die about 2% of the time. I hope that makes sense!

Best unit in the game? Horse archers! Just don’t use them like the AI and let them charge head first into enemy’s formation. Instead, follow these steps: - split them into 2 groups. - put them in loose formation - Lead one flank with follow order and hold/move position for the other. Let them stop and fire their volleys into enemy formation for maximum accuracy. - Quickly relocate when the enemy start to advancing in shield wall toward you. Now the other horse archer group can be position right behind their shield wall and peppered them with arrows in the back. - Rinse and repeat. This strat helped me dominate the entire Khuzait territory, which I then use to recruit even more Noble sons and Qiangli into my army. Need warhorses to upgrade them to Torgud? Just fight and loot from your enemy’s corpses. P/S: I checked and horse archers seems to have the upper hand in a skirmish against foot archers since they have their horse to somewhat shield them. May need to test that against high tier archer like Battanian Fian though.
