Amazing video! Really comprehensive. I recently bought a 1996 DR650 here in the UK (very rare) and have done quite a few of the upgrades already. I plan to ride the DR650 from London to Bangkok when i turn 50 in 7 years time. Thanks for a great video guys and subscribed!!

A well sorted DR650 is unbeatable light adventure in my opinion. No frills and easily repairable. Mine is setup almost identical with exception of the yenkro fairing and a TM40. I would suggest a few more dollars spent on the pegs with the pivot pegz. Love them. Safe Adventures!

Wondering what bike spares you are carrying with you. How do you plan to get any parts on the road you don't have?

Thanks for all the info. A couple of questions, what is the top box? Also, I’m planning a similar trip and have the 20L tank that came with my DR, from your experience will that be enough? Don’t really wanna fork out for an extra 5L.. I’ve already mapped out my Australia leg and should be sweet there..

Hey mate, Ben has a B&W type 5500 on his, very similar to a Pelican case.

Wow, a lot of money for accessories. I am a new owner of a DR650. I will start with a seat, a riser, and a tank. I was hesitating between the seat concept and the seat sargent. After having traveled so many kilometers, would you still take the sargent seat? Thanks for all the research to find the right accessories and thanks for your video. Alain from Canada

Hey Alain, a comfort seat of some type was a must have for us, we still get saddle sores when we do a few big days in a row. Perhaps you could pick one up for the cheap on facebook marketplace or the like.

I have both. The Sargent is a far better seat than the SC, better made and more comfortable. I have owned a hand full of of SCs including one for my DR. Keep an eye on the Sargent website, they go on sale on occasion.

Great videos guys. Looking forward to episode 6. Be interested to know approx how many kms you had when your clutches gave out. Prepping a bike atm for a similar ride next year and wondering if to do the hd clutch. Cheers and stay safe.

Hey Wayne, we were around 30,000kms when our clutches started to go in Vietnam. I think you could expect a little more out of them depending on bike weight and riding style.
