Yet again, such a great video Dave, I will be asking Santa for a polisher this year. A couple of questions, I do have a Dewalt battery and charger, would you recommend a cordless one of these ahead of the DA8, however price will be maybe £70 more. And lastly, on a 30 year old german black car, which has had a lot of paint, and many swirls! will a two or three stage polish be necessary. Keep up the great work, thumbs up
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
so if you go cordless you pay more, and you have to round robin batteries. But the Dewalt cordless is very capable. I dont want to say too much but my review of the DW cordless tools is coming soon and it looks at these offerings in detail so hold fire I would until you have watched this. hard german paint. Ok first up compound, and finishing, and ultra refining, is 3 stage. Dont confuse stages with sets. so I could do 3 sets of compounds, and 2 sets of finishing, 1 jets of ultra fine jewling or refining. thats a 3 stage polish. So you do the extra stage when you really want to max out gloss, maybe on a high end valuable car or maybe just because you are crazy or its a show car etc.. the etc ultra fine refinement is a lot of extra time for time gains. So Cut your hard black german paint untill you are happy with the swirl level and then refine it untill you are happy with the pure sharp reflection marring free finish... aim to minimise compounding sets if you can.

hey there Shaun. you have to clean them properly at the end of each day, dont throw them untill the surface starts crumbling up and disintergrating. take tooth brush, squirt come APC on the face work with brush, then blast the surface with a garden hose and it will flush all the polish out.. when clean sandwich in a thich clean drying towel and press to suck up all the water so they feel 99% dry.. put in airing cupboard to full dry. all polishers work well on flat panels, similiar rates of cut experienced Im guessing. Rotary though if you want to correct faster you can pressure down more with it and lean in without stalling issues. Almost true of the FR has well although the FR down most of its work from the orbit or the oscillation if you like. but when a DA is spinning it cuts well.

Hi mate I bought this in2detailing da8 polisher today and the g360 cut and g360 finish all through your recommendations. Thanks by the way . And I'm just wondering if you can help me the g360 recommendations range from 900 to 2000 rpm and the minimum this polisher goes to is 2500 rpm so I'm just wondering if you could have some input on that thanks regards harry

900 -2000 rpm is rotary reference. your DA is really 2500 opm. just cut at around speed 4 mate.

Question!! What do you think about microfibre cutting pads from meguiars??
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
I find they dont take up the curves in the panels as well because they are thin and flat. They also gunk up quickly and you need to be able to blast them out with air. you cant really clean out microfiber with a brush. And I dont find and radical improvement in cut, maybe there is some improvement though. so I use foam.

How hardwearing are these? Looking at getting a new DA polisher after I broke my vonhaus one after 2 years of light use (maybe 5-6 full cars in that time, 3 different polish stages on each) don’t want to spend £100 and break it so quickly again
@ForensicDetailing

unknown mate. Its very hard to test this. it feels like it can take a hammering.. if you use it 24x5 like most DA's the bearing is the thing that takes the punishment. you only get a year warrenty as opposed to 3 years for say flex or DW.

Not tried this polisher but ive got the clean your car das-6 polisher which is £90. How does this compare to the das-6 John?
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
das-6 is lower 600w polisher way less power. das6 pro though is 900w polisher plenty of power great machine. Its tiny little improvements with this machine but if you have a DAS6 pro its very close to pointless to buy this machine they are too close.

How can you tell whether you have a soft paint surface or a hard paint surface
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
a) experience b) google c) test area c) is the only real way as for example a 2015 ford black paint might have medium ro hard paint and a 2015 ford with white paint painted in a different location could have soft (thats just a made up example)

I have a question. Im new to polishing and want to do a full paint correction next spring. I can borrow a rupes LHR 21 ES from a friend but will I manage to use this polisher or will i be better off with something smaller?
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
hmm depends what standard you are working too. The 21 will be fine on a bonnet or roof or door. but try polishing a front bumper with it and its a bit of a handfull. Short answer is you will prolly be better of with a smaller DA like this one. Or a combo or DA's like the DA15 and DA12 I will talking about soon. maybe borrow it first and have a play around with it. If the tool isnt giving you the results you want then you can look to invest in your own tool?

Would you recommend the orbital polisher from Halford? It’s £35
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
not for correction.. it will be ok for applying a wax/sealant and glossing up the the paint but it does not have the power to really cut paint efficently on all paint types... pay extra and get a DA8 or DAS6 pro machine with 850-1000w and you can do everything.

What’s the best pad size if I were to use the polisher on a motorcycle?? And does the polisher take a smaller pad
@ForensicDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
75ml plate with the 80ml flex pads. But if you intend to buy a polisher ONLY to polish the bike with by the DA12 (3 inch mini) you cant take the plate of the da12 , in other words it only supports the 75ml plate. but its setup (counterbalanced) to the small plate only. And it wont have a huge shroud thats bigger than the plate. You can see what the DA8 looks like with the small plate and huge bell shaped shroud. stay tuned for my da15 and da12 video I will show you the smaller pads in there.

@@ashbyts3900 abrasive polishes like H9 F6 M3 contain lubricating oils that you ram into the paintwork when you polish. you need to use a panel wipe after polishing to degrease the surface and then your protection products will bond better and last longer. if you apply protection products on top of oil they wash away rapidly.
