We’ve been car camping in our R1S a few times now. Your consumption using HVAC all night is on par with what we’ve seen when using heat/AC. BUT, if you turn off the heat/ac (the blue and red snowflake icon) and just run the fan you’ll only use 2-3% of battery in 8-10 hours of running. Also we LOVE the 120v outlets and use it to boil water and run our electric griddle. I’ve found you can boil water with a hot plate off the car for one hour and use only 1%. ITS AMAZING

Great setup! Ranges tend to be longer here in the Rockies, and multi-day stints without gas stations are common in the backcountry so I would have serious range anxiety. But the setup looks great and it looks like it’ll be a solid adventure setup for your situation. So use it! Drive the wheels off it finding new places and have a blast! It’s what I’m doing with my ADV motorcycle and my Jeep and every time I look at them I think it’s money well spent.

Nice! Love the matte wrap. Looks killer! I’m a fan of car camping. I’ve done a bunch out west in my suburban. The batteries would have me worried too much to take it anywhere other than close to home I think. It wouldn’t make it through Death Valley or any of those type of overland/camp trips, but once they can get the range up on these Offroad EV’s they’ll make it interesting! Congrats on finally upgrading your daily driver Chris😂 Definitely the best looking out of all these new EVs!

ive wanted people to camp their R1S for so long since watching people do that in their Tesla Model Y's. I wanted to see all that space you had compared to a Model Y (which is already spacious). I guess for ease of mind, I think paid campgrounds usually have that RV outlet so if you had that hooked up, you could sleep and not worry about losing too much power! (of course different than this experience because you have to pay)

how far did you guys drive from home to your camping destination? Just curious how far you can go, then spend the night in your vehicle with climate system on, and then drive home without having to stop and charge if that makes sense. Most of the places id want to go camp at are around 2 - 4 hours away, wondering how a camping trip like this might drain the battery with this kind of travel time one way.
