Finaly somone has made a KIT. So many people converting but not offering a kit that can be shiped to a customer. Down to earth explanation that make me want to get my bank card out.

Why is the HV in black conduit? this is very counter productive as it should be easily recognisable to anyone working on the vehicle including emergency services.

Yes - seems to go against the golden rule of keeping everything HV very obvious. Orange Conduit is available!

This is really good and it has been perfected. but for £55,000 that's too much for an EV conversion kit. I believe there is a cheaper and equally impressive Kit to be developed and we can make that happen for less than £10,000

Half the cost of the £46k is probably due to the Fellten Battery pack. Even if battery costs drop by half or more this is still at least a £30-35k kit. If you want quality right now with relatively low volume this is unfortunately the price you need to pay. I think over time if a target cost is about £25-30k that would be a great price point for more to enter in to the EV conversion scene. A £10k or less kit might be possible in about 10 years.

Nice kit but 46K is a killer, I could buy a low mileage Tesla for that. If I was a huge Defender fan I won't be trashing the original motor either.

But a td5 doesn't have a cable throttle. It's a potentiometer one. Pre td5 did have cable throttle. So do you change the pedal to an earlier one?

On this build we swapped the TD5 throttle for a TDI one (which is the same size so bolts into the original holes) but we're currently developing away to use the original TD5 throttle potentiometer instead.

@electriccarconverts how difficult would it be followng a 55 kwh conversion to go to the 110 kWh at a later date. Would provision need to be made during the initial conversion? Also if the donor Land Rover has had a replacement galvanised chassis (Marsland or Richards) could that pose a problem? Thank you....Edit just watched your latest video and you answer the question about adding the second battery at a later date😀

Hi, our systems are upgradable to the 110kWh if you already have the 55kWh system. All the mounts are already there so that it can be added quite easily. The only thing to take note of is that we don't want to do it years and years after your first 55kWh goes in, because the front batteries will degrade a little and then not be in perfect sync with the second battery pack. If it was the case that you wanted to do it a long time down the line, we would replace the modules in your front box too, so in essence a full new battery pack. No probs at all re a replacement chassis, in fact our workshop jig chassis is a Richards.

Currently, EV conversion kits are too expensive. When they get the prices to an affordable level, I would consider it. However, range is still not there. Maybe someday.

We don't believe that range needs to be too big, it makes the kits more expensive and the weight becomes an issue. For long journeys most of our clients have another car!

Great conversion! Hope the price comes down somewhat 😉 So I ditch the original gear box and intermediate box. Do I get diff-lock also? I probably don't need low and high anymore, right? I have an 1985 110, with drum brakes in the rear. Should I do the conversion to disc-brakes on forehand?

Hey Chris, yes we've made a series kit, but the series really don't need 300hp and limiting one seems a waste of money really. The series kit video is coming out next week, it uses a 120hp motor and 26-44kwh battery pack.

There should be loads of these businesses popping up. If only people weren’t worried about the batteries and the price of them. As soon as that tech advances y’all are going to be ridiculously busy. Would be awesome to convert a classic. Probably will be the real status symbol of the future, do you drive yourself in an electric classic or are you being driven in a new public transport Tesla taxi.

Fabulous product and given the money I'd have one in a flash. There's the rub though, the cost has to come down to make evs more affordable rather than being a niche product. This isn't a comment on Electric Car Converts who are doing a great job but rather on the current state of the industry. Progress is being made though so keep up the great work.

Looks good; great idea to insert all the needed know-how into a plug-n-play kit. You mentioned in the video how you solved the handbrake-problem. What about the hydraulic brake system, and its vacuum booster? Is it MOT approved? Thanks for your answers!

The brakes have either a 12v vacuum pump in them, which turns on when the servo needs a vacuum. It's also possible to do this with a Tesla Ibooster. You use the brake pedal very rarely though, as the regen of the motor does braking for you. Yes it's MOT and DVLA approved.

Thanks for that! We're certainly happy with how it has come out. Yes we can supply parts, you'd probably only need the battery box (+ the charger etc mounted to it) and the motor, the rest will have to be custom made for your vehicle (mountings etc)

The transmission is built into the original tesla motor, we just change the gearing inside it.

Will you be doing 110 kits? I have been trying to find a Disco 3/4 EV conversion. Vs a Defender (Which I love) they have, more space, more elbow room, more comfort etc.. and you can pick up a 'blown engine' Disco for 10% of the cost of a Defender! Prime Untapped market with endless potential. IMHO

Your comment at 6:53 is much appreciated. The fact that there are no secrets is amazing. I did want to ask if you have a way to convert VWs to EV with a tesla small rear drive motor and then the rest of what is needed to power and cool and connect. I am doing a 1970s dune buggy conversion and the battery cases need to be custom made front and back and mine is a full DIY build. Can you help?

You're welcome, no need to hide things in this industry! We started as DIYers so we get it.. Yes we have done a couple of VW's in the past, I would recommend using the Model 3 rear drive unit over the SDU though as it much more efficient and modern. Yes we can help with battery boxes.

ECC has a 3 year waiting list, do you have availability in 2024? Or am I better off buying this kit and having it installed professionally by someone else? I want the max range and bhp.

Sounds like that will be a super special build - probably the only EV 6x6 in the world. Yes we have availability from Jan 2024 so just let us know when you're ready. We churn out an EV landy every 2 weeks so our waiting list doesn't usually become too long. @@POVDrivingTour

Why ruin a perfectly good classic car? The original can drive a lot longer without having to fill up. Quite useless car with this conversion. Why not just buy a Tesla or some other junk car.
