I’m staying with my parents as my dad happened to get a job the same time I got my college offer, so there’s not much I could share about my accommodation situation as it is different from other international students. However, if you’re interested, I can make a video on what Prinsep Residencies is like! As per co-curriculars, it really depends on what the uni is looking for. I’d say SMU definitely gives more weightage to CCAs than NUS and NTU. But having CCAs is always a good add on!

@aashmikavarma
9 ай бұрын
Hey! 1. Commerce without math is not an issue, they primarily look at grades anyway. 2. Yes, I’m doing psych as my primary major. You can check out their courses from their website. 3. I would say 90+ is a must cuz grades are important for getting into a Singapore uni! 4. I applied before my board results came out, so when the portal opened itself. You can submit your board results later, they have that option on their website. 5. TOEFL/IELTS is required and SAT/APs are optional, though this may have changed. 6. Getting accommodation in Prinsep is quite competitive but people do get in!

Hey there! Yes, it is completely feasible to find a part time job when you’re on STUDENT PASS (if you’re on dependent pass; it would NOT be allowed!) Working would be illegal only if you exceed the weekly work hour limit as stipulated by the ministry of manpower. Hey! The thing is, my case is a little different from the other international kids as my parents happened to shift with me to Singapore due to changes in their jobs. So I stay with them and my accommodation situation is different. @aashmikavarma
Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Okay, so what I’m gonna say is just an opinion. Don’t consider it as the final say because obviously, I’m not in the SMU admissions team and I don’t know how it actually works, haha. So my conditional offer stated that I need 90+ in each subject to confirm my offer into SMU. Additionally, I feel like SMU does appreciate students who have a holistic profile in general with concorriculars. So if you think your extracurriculars can pull through considering that 89.2 is very close to the 90 mark and that your co-curriculars are decent, then you do have a pretty good chance. All the best! 💌

Hi! I’m not a part of the admissions team so I can’t say anything for sure, but extracurriculars play an important role for SMU, definitely more than NUS or NTU. I want your truest response to my question! If i did a MSc in finance, what will be the value of that degree in INDIA, will i get job opportunities? Will i not? Because i saw on quora and some YT videos as well they all said that you won't be getting the same value as you ll get in Singapore. What is your take on this? How much value does Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Msc in finance holds?
@aashmikavarma
10 ай бұрын
Hi, I don’t know much about the master programmes in Singapore, I’m sorry! If you’re wondering about jobs in Singapore, I’d say it depends on a bunch of variables - the government’s standpoint on foreign employment, the job market, your CV, etc. so I can’t say anything for sure. But in general, getting a job in Singapore is definitely challenging to a certain extent for international students because you’ll have to do many applications and simply hope for the best. And again, I’m not an SIM student so I have no idea how the course is, but from what I’ve noticed, companies often show a preference towards local universities (SMU, NUS, NTU) over private universities like SIM. So that could possibly make things hard for getting a job (but still, it’s not impossible I’m sure!) In terms of value, that really depends on what you value! :p From my experience as a psych major in SMU it’s been incredible, I’ve gotten a lot of exposure to different cultures, opportunities and what not - but I’m sure if I studied in India, there would’ve been things I’d value there too! Hope that helps.

Hi! What do you mean by overall process? :) To answer your second question - I applied to SMU for their Bachelor’s in Social Science programme (B. SocSc) and opted for a double major only after I came to university. SMU has very flexible choices for majors so you can choose to second major from any other school in SMU or from your primary school (in my case, social sciences).

@@aashmikavarma sorry to bother you but could you please explain what the smu conditional was? Did they just want you to pass the 12th grade or did they want you to meet your application scores? also what was your score with which you applied?

Hey! The SMU conditional offer I received was to attain a minimum of 90 in each subject for my 12th grade CBSE boards. I got an overall of 97.2% so the offer got confirmed eventually. I don’t know if they wanted to meet predicted scores, but my predicted score was almost the same - 96% or so. Hope that answers your question! :)
