Correcting my mistake after i saw what @Y-it-Earp wrote. From wiki... di·o·ram·a /ˌdīəˈramə,ˌdīəˈrämə/ noun a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit. HISTORICAL a scenic painting, viewed through a peephole, in which changes in color and direction of illumination simulate changes in the weather, time of day, etc. a miniature movie set used for special effects or animation.

"He's not a Pea, He's special..." - might be my favourite line ever from a KMM video. I think your hunch about going darker with the blaster was a good one - it is actually a Bergmann 1896 pistol with minor cosmetic changes, so a sombre black chemical 'bluing' is order of the day there. could probably even stand a retrospective blue-grey enamel wash. Finally, YES - please do the speeder one day. This video has got me thinking about that sci-fi 'bounty hunter' with tracked bike project we chatted about a while back.

A Noob here to 3D anything. Appreciate making this video for us and sharing your expertise. Thank you. I’m watching your video very carefully. I’m outlining every step. First question : Do I need to immediately remove the printed piece from its cradle? 2nd, do I need to clean up the printer and all the parts used immediately?
@KathyMillatt
3 жыл бұрын
I often leave parts dripping for a while, such as overnight if it finishes printing late. I don’t always empty my vat on the Elegoo Mars as I can see bits in the clear resin but I always strain my grey Peopoly resin out. As long as there’s no UV light, it’s fine to leave the parts for a bit but I always do clean them within 24 hours.

Anycubic's photon s is around £260 Gbp (Or the Elegoo Mars for about the same) and will do a split model like this over 2 or 3 prints. I figure about £6 - £7 for resin if using the slightly more expensive water washable resin from Amazon at about £22 for 500ml bottle . Water washable saves you shelling out for IPA to clean up. Quality of the Photon s is amazing.

I'm printing one of my own as well. It's 7 1\4'' tall using .16 layer height (.32 infill layer height) The arms and guns are printed at 60% for strength, the body at 15%. The cape at 30%. My first go took 12 1\2hours, but i got tons of stringing because i set my temp (PLA+) too high and forgot to change before starting. printer is in my shed and prints overnight...and couldn't see the stringing on the security camera i have in the enclosure. Other than the stringing it came out so nice. I considered using ABS so i could smooth it out a little before painting, but .16layer is very fine and will work good for me. You're paint job will be better than mine though :D

I hollow all my big prints and put the holes in the joint areas where they don’t show. I wouldn’t have hollowed thinner parts like the cloak or rifle though. You hollow to create even wall thicknesses to lessen warping and to save weight which can help with adhesion.

I would print figures with a resin printer generally as it is quicker and better detailed. FDM suits big terrain pieces. As you do have an FDM printer then patience is key as you will need to be slower and finer layer heights to get the effect you need. Sorry!
