Isn't the UK free and open now? Right now in Aus we have the army and police patroling the borders of towns, people are locked down not just in their homes, but also their local town area and not allowed to leave, you can only go to local shops for food and that's it. Borders locked down, state locked down, towns all individually locked down, and told to stay at home unless you are an essential worker that is employed inside your local town. Your job is outside of town borders? Then you can't go, stay at home. This place is literally hell. I heard Britons can go to pubs and clubs again now.

Here is another way of looking at it. If you are a high-net-worth individual and you have a very large liquid asset that you can borrow from at below 2-3% APR, then you can pretty much live anywhere. I just started the process for getting citizenship by descent from a Caribbean country. It should be finished by this year. This is a former Spanish colony, so if I move to Spain, I will be eligible to apply for Spanish citizenship in 2 years. Anybody that is a citizen of certain countries, by birth, or is a Sephardic Jew, can apply for Spanish citizenship in 2 years.
@pjuliano9000

Btw Spain requires renunciation of US citizenship … for those who don’t know
@TazExprez
3 жыл бұрын
@@pjuliano9000 this is true for countries that allow citizens to renounce their nationality to foreign governments. Spain does have dual citizenship agreements with many countries, including all of the 2 year fast track citizenship countries. The Sephardic Jews do not have to renounce their nationality. The US does not recognize a renunciation made to a foreign government, so the renunciation of US citizenship that someone makes to the Spanish government does not count. There are many countries, including Spain, that will take your nationality away if you get another citizenship after obtaining the Spanish one. So if you have dual US and 2 year fast track country citizenship, Spain will basically consider you a Spanish and 2 year fast track country citizen, while the US will not recognize your Spanish citizenship. For those with multiple passports, they just have to remember to enter and leave a home country with the home country’s passport to avoid any issues. Also remember to enter and leave foreign countries with the same passport.

Hi Andrew, love the discussion and coverage. I am not going to be someone needing the Ultimate Plan B, we have been thinking about some of the issues you describe. I am a US citizen concerned about the country’s direction and feeling out-of-step with the nation of my birth, my wife is Nigerian, and we live and work in Ireland while building a significant e-commerce enterprise. Our work need to be in Ireland will likely end when 2022 ends. We are thinking of maintaining residence, though, for another 1-1 1/2 years to qualify for citizenship. In case I exit US citizenship in the future, I would want to hold a passport with the high likelihood of visa-free travel to the US with the benefits (and perhaps detriments) of EU country citizenship, with the possibility of ultimately choosing to live elsewhere. I don’t know that we would look at Southeast Asia residency, but it seems possible. Obviously we are not trying to do the Ultimate plan, but does such an approach seem reasonable?
