As always, great info packed in a short amount of time. I have an older Ring and I mounted a solar panel accessory to it and have not had to change the battery once. Course I'm in Hawaii so there's that :)

Thanks Chris, looking forward to the follow-up video on night vision. I'm fairly computer savvy and have a new need for a system, but I've been totally overwhelmed by the options, manufacturer claims, service fees vs. no service fees, etc. I am VERY interested in the use of an old computer to run cameras and recording software, please hit on that in the next video. I have both an old iMac and old PC in the closet.

When I originally started putting this video together it was supposed to be a list of my favorites but I quickly realized that my explanations for why they were my favorites wouldn't make sense without a full explanation. i may considering doing another video though.

Unifi aka Ubiquiti cameras are AMAZING. Their night vision IR is phenomenal.

I like Unifi’s camera lineup I just think they’re overpriced.

@@ChrisMajestic I would respectfully have to disagree. I'm running nothing, but AI Pros. Whenever I need to find a motion event. It's easy to find. I love how it tracks animals, faces, sounds, and license plates. We had a water heater die in the garage. I was able to listen to the camera's microphone to pinpoint exactly when it started leaking water before I saw it in the garage. A cat was pooping on my lawn. The AI Pro camera tracks animals. I was able to find the culprit very easy. One morning a strange animal appeared on my patio. I uploaded the video to the Nextdoor app and I asked if that was a weasel or a mink. I never knew we had mink in our county. My dog passed away in May. I was able to download video footage from the AI Pro because it constantly tracked her when going outside.

@@Slick1020 it sounds like you’re referring to the software which is good. I don’t disagree with that. However, I still think they’re overpriced. I have several empiretech 4k cameras which have great image quality and I rely on blue iris and codeproject ai to handle object detection. To do what I’m doing with a unifi setup would double the price with no major benefits. Not to mention the flexibility.

@@ChrisMajestic I have Unifi's UNVR with a 16 TB Seagate AI Surveillance drive. I use Unifi's POE switch that's paired with my Netgear RAX70 WiFi 6 and Netgear RS700 WiFi 7 routers. The RAX70 is in bridge mode for the POE Switch. My exterior 3 AI Pros are all 4K, the AI Bullet in my garage is 2K, and my G4 doorbell Pro is HDR. The IR and detection on the cameras are so refined. An AI Pro picked up 2 mice running across my patio at night. This was well in advance of a solar powered motion detection light triggering. When I called a security camera installer to run my CAT6 for the cameras. They were like, we will only install premier cameras. After mentioning Unifi, they were like we WILL install those cameras. They were surprised I didn't need them to show me anything. It's not rocket science. Installer sales rep: "We can run HDMI to a tv if you want." I was like no, Unifi has a Google TV app. I bring up the cameras on my 2 big screen tvs. I'm a Google Home ecosystem guy with everything being controlled by Google except for cameras: Sony 83 inch OLED & Sony 75 inch LCD tvs, Sony Bravia Theater Quads, Roomba, Rachio sprinkler controller, Google TV streamer, HVAC, Harmony tv remote.

@@ChrisMajestic My 3 exterior AI Pros are all 4K. The AI Bullet in the garage is 2K and my G4 Doorbell Pro is HDR. I also have Unifi's WiFi Chime for my doorbell in addition to the original mechanical chime. Unifi gave me a G4 Pro camera that I don't even use. I have Unifi's UNVR and their POE switch. The switch runs to a Netgear RAX70 WiFi 6 router and it's connected to a Netgear RS700 WiFi 7 router via bridge. After my dog passed away. Unifi gave us access to put pictures on the doorbell. So I uploaded a picture of my dog. The company that installed my CAT6 for POE said they only install premier cameras. After mentioning Unifi, they were like we WILL install those cameras. Their sales rep was trying to tell me they can run an HDMI cable to one of my Sony big screen tvs. I said, no because Unifi has a Google TV app. I could not buy any Google cameras despite using their Google Home ecosystem for everything in my home to include: Sony 83 inch OLED 4K & Sony 75 inch LCD 4K tvs, Sony Bravia Theater Quads, Roomba, HVAC System, Rachio Sprinkler Controller, Harmony remote, and Google TV Streamer.

I need a 2 camera indoor system for my Barbershop that records full time to local storage that I can access remotely. Is there such a system? If so, what do you recommend?
@ChrisMajestic

You have lots of options. It all depends on exactly how much you’re trying to spend and if you want a professional system. It could be as simple as a couple of wifi cameras with sd cards in them or full professional wired system with a nvr.

HI C. I need a camera instal away from home. I have electricity, but I don't know what equipment to choose so that it would be easy and cost-free to save or view the recording on the iPhone. In addition, it cannot be magnetic, because they will simply steal it from me.
