Of these, the noisest on flight cruise is the Trent 556/553 since it makes a humming beeping sound I observed this on CX831 A340-600 on December 17th, 2005. Some of these engines can be flown in or out of MNL Philippines. Examples from MNL are PR CX 5J TG SQ A330-343X A330-941 DL (This was the Manila to Seattle FLight) & 5J A350-1041 CX MNL-HKG A350-941 PR TG CX SQ

As much as I love GE engines. RR engines are what I grew up with. Cuz for some reason, the airline I flew on only put RR on their planes, beside thing like 777-300ER which only run on GE-90 specifically. Their B787, B777-200ER, B777-300, A330-300, B747-400 all used RR engines. (Also A350, but RR XWB is the only option for A350 anyway) And I used to fly on them so often that RR engines noise just make me feel nostalgic. (Beside B787 and A350, cuz these are new)

But if you really want a superb sound. I just love the RB-211 on the 747's and its a sound of comfort from take off to landing. I am a retired 747 AAPP mechanic of 40 years experience and these engines I worked on as well as the 757, 777's The Trent 500 is similar to the RB-211 but not as loud and its a steady sound as well. If you ever own a plane get the RB-211 PP and if not get the 757 PP (power plants)/. These are the two best for me, but the greatest sound is those 707 JT engines back in the 60's and early 70's. Gawd I miss the sound of those JT's nice and fucking loud even on the Tarmac.

I have a question: why can we hear engine roar only in the front part of the aircraft?
@FueltoNoiseGenerator
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Davide, mainly because the main engine noise comes from the nozzle which is of course a lot more recognizable behind the engine. The sound from the nozzle then suppresses the buzzsaw sound from the fan. Additionally, the wing prevents the fan sound from direct transmission to the aft section. In the front you have unobstructed view of the fan and you are a lot closer. Hope that was understandable ;)
