The commercial applications are detuned for the sake of mileage. A big selling point is 250,000 mile rebuild intervals. In most applications a 5 year lease tends to end up exactly there, 250k miles with a straight truck (which would have the 6.7) and 500k miles with a semi. Is it worth it? That’s a really good question, I mean people pay that type of money for sports cars that can only have two people in them at one time. You can potentially have your immediate family in this rig with you and pull your travel trailer too, and drive anywhere in North America on just the fuel you have on the truck(well maybe drop the trailer and you can go anywhere). It would definitely be an investment for sure. If I had the money to buy it I’d for sure put it to work and enjoy it every second I had. But if you can afford an $100k truck you can afford a lot more toys to go with it like big boats, fifth wheel travel trailers etc etc. shoot you can even hotshot on the side too for bigger than average loads.

*4 88 andre I believe As nice looking as this truck is, if I had to pull serious weight, or a long fifth wheel I would want a freightliner sport chassis M2 112 from Transwest

I love the truck. PROBLEM is 5500. Most insurance companies in Louisiana will not insure a truck above a F-350 or Ram 3500 without it being listed as a commercial truck. I wanted to get an F-450 King Ranch and I was only able to get 1 company out of about a dozen who would insure it as a personal truck and it was USAA but the rate went from 585 for a F350 dually to 2800 for a F450 for 6 months. I tried explaining the truck is not used for commercial use. It is to tow my camper trailer or personal use. My reasons were for the wide track front end and better brakes to be safer. It didn't matter to them and their reason was it's not what YOU are using it for, the problem is what the truck is capable of. Every place else wouldn't even talk to me unless I owned a business and had a tax ID because that the only way they would give a quote and it would be registered as a commercial insured vehicle. Going that route even If I came up with something the rate would have been 3500 every 6months due to the commercial rating. All that just to pull my camper around. The sad part is the tow difference isn't but a few hundred lbs. I wanted to be safer and they wanted to charge me more. OK so Ford is out. I went to Ram with the 4500 Limited with a tow bed similar to this truck in the video and it was the same thing. They wanted tax ID, name of business and wouldn't give me a quote until I produced that. SO what I want to know is how the hell are the retired folks getting a 4500, 5500 or F450 without getting hit with ENORMOUS insurance rates compared to the 1 ton dually that tows almost the same thing??? OH by the way I did bring up that the F450 and F350 were class 3 trucks and the 450 was not a chassis cab. They didn't want to hear it. I have Geico insurance. When I called them they gave me to the underwriting dept. He told me the best thing he could do is for me to buy the f-450 truck first and then they would make a determination on insuring it or not!!! Can you believe that??? Why make a truck that the regular RVer can't get insurance for??

thanks, great for maybe the horse trailers, but I just kept trying to find something to do it all, there isn't anything. so a truck like this for farm loads, and the Kenworth for the equipment.

No it wouldnt!!!! You would be much better off with a 3500 and save the rest for a proper tow rig. 100k is M2 money!

Its nice and all, but I would get a slightly used HDT Truck. Will give me space for a cooler, seat with table, port a potty, and a bed for a nap and not have to leave the cab. Plus better braking.

Can you do an episode explaining why diesel trucks to more weight than gas but gas trucks have higher payload capacity?
@All-Miles-Matter

The weight of the diesel engine takes away from payload. Simple answer.

They need to ease up on the PCM limitations they put in place! I’m sure a tuner would wake up even the 6.4 Ram!
