He lived with his aunt and uncle. One day I asked why and he said back home he got involved with a 25 year old woman. He said that was his “ex-girlfriend” but one day he went to her house and an adult man was there. Words were exchanged, the man threatened to end him if he came around again, the woman pretended like she didn’t know him. Again I was like WTF, where were your parents. It also doesn’t make sense for Mrs. Wheelers character to be attracted to a teen who is about a year or two older than her own daughter. Like they even have her realize it’s wrong bc cheating not bc of how young he is which is much worse than cheating. If she has to have an arc then give her one that ties into Nancy’s (to make the talk they have more meaningful) or a different midlife crisis. Thanks for sharing this. I was SA'D and abused as a girl and a woman, by men. My partner was abused as a boy and a young man by an older close female relative. As a female victim I've faced judgement, victim blaming, people dismissing me, and not understanding. Male victims face these issues too, but there's a lot of additional stigma, and they come across in different, often heavier ways. Toxic masculinity plays a role here too. Because boys and men are so frequently taught to bury their feelings, to not share or show their emotions especially sadness (boys don't cry, man up, be a man, don't be such a girl, don't be soft), and so much more. For example, I have had negative experiences at the hands of the police. When I was a scared child. Even the police were blaming me, being nasty to me. But boys and men, especially those who were victims of female perpetrators will be taken even less seriously, treated even worse than female victims. Given the factors at play that make it particularly difficult for a boy or man to come forward to try and get help for what has happened to them... One attempt met with being brushed off (or worse) might leave a man unable to ever go back and try and get help again. I really wish the best for you in life. I want to keep engaging with content as good as this, and talking to people about it. Hopefully with time, more people will get educated. I've seen people slowly get a lot more educated on consent. I think a lot of young people are really switched on about this stuff. I really hope this continues to spread and help people. Again I really wish you all the best for your future.

I love how you brought up how being conventionally attractive plays into the Arron Taylor Johnson situation. Because I’ve always noticed it but never had the words to say it. the way people interact with him para socially is veryyy similar to how people act with method man. People often make jokes saying how he hopefully leaves his wife one day, but the difference being Aaron was underage so people throw that in as all the more reason for him to leave her when really they only brought it up regarding his attractiveness. If Aaron’s wife were deemed more attractive or even if Arron himself was considered unattractive I highly doubt we would see the same concern people have for his virtue

@@h3avenscent I agree on the fact that it's weird that she would be with someone she knew as a kid. That said, if they met when he was 18, I don't think that is necessarily a problem or equal to grooming. Most of the time it can be, but it really depends on the dynamics of the relationship in question. I met my fiancée when they were 28 and I was 18. We have a very healthy relationship and there's a reason we're together, and it's because we can relate to each other at a deep level. I've been groomed before, many times when I was a teen. I know which dynamics to look out for, and my fiancée did not groom me. It's a healthy relationship that's helping me heal my traumas and become better, both as a person and in terms of my mental health. With this opening up with Cole Sprouse’s personal recollection, I’m surprised this didn’t address a film he and his twin were in early on in their child star days. In “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things” the Sprouse twins played the adolescent version of a character who is sexually assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend. There’s another actor, Jimmy Bennett, he played an even younger version of the character, who is also assaulted within the story - who would later reveal in his own life that he was sexually assaulted at a much later time at the age of 17 by the actress who played the mother in this film, Asia Argento, who was then 37 at the time. It’s such a wildly layered story.

It’s not that surprising given that that movie seems to have been shoved down a memory hole. Tronn might not even know that it exists. Though there could be other reasons. Furthermore, even though I (for a few reasons) sometimes wonder if there’s more that Cole hasn’t told us about his past, he doesn’t come across as the kind of person who would appreciate any speculation of that sort.

@@ElvishPresley79 I think it's possible it does tbh. The patriarchy is to say that men have a higher position of power just for being men. So when a scenario happens where a woman assaults a boy, people won't see it as the woman's fault because 'She doesn't have power', or 'she can't have power' because rarely women do. However, if we lived in a world where more women were in positions of power, people would more often see it as a power dynamic because women CAN have power. The patriarchy normalizes male dominance, even in boys. So as the video mentioned, some people may see it as boys not being abused because they naturally have more power, which isn't the case.

Another example of this is when the directors of Game of Thrones made a 16 year old Dean-Charles Chapman film a scene shirtless in bed next to a 33 year old Natalie Dormer. The directors literally came up to Dean joking around about how they’d ‘done him a favour and written him in a cheeky little sex scene’. And although he said he wasn’t uncomfortable with it, so many fans of the show accused him of being ungrateful and not realising how ‘lucky’ he was. The fact the directors (2 grown men) automatically assumed that he’d be more than happy to do a scene like that speaks volumes. They only care about men’s SA when the perpetrator is another man- like in the case of Boy Scouts- that was taken very seriously, right? Everyone was and continues to be appalled- as they should be. I find the tone shifts alarmingly fast to “it’s actually cool/ not a big deal” when the perpetrator is a woman. I know it’s not a child star situation but as you say.. in general- young boys are expected to always want it. Men aren’t allowed to be unsure about sex especially in comparison to a woman because that would indicate a shift in power dynamic where the woman has more power over a man.. and that gets blindly applied to boys as well. But even with adult men.. there’s no comprehension or understanding around their bodies being taken advantage of by predator women. It’s just apparently allowed to be a creep to Pedro Pascal because women are the ones being creepy.. no matter how uncomfortable he may feel about it. I am a woman and a feminist and I am deeply aware of the power and privilege men hold in this world- and I also know it’s awful to be on the other end of that power dynamic- no matter who it is. These principles are born out of equality and in recognition of everyone’s human dignity. We all deserve to feel safe.

I think the real problem isn't that he was 18 or 19 when they supposedly fell for each other. It's the fact that she knew him since he was a minor, and was supposedly a close part of the family, not to mention the power dynamics and difference in maturity between them. I met my fiancée when she was 28 and I was 18. The power dynamics are not bad between us; I'm not vulnerable to her. Rather, she is vulnerable to me. She's less experienced than me with relationships and many facets of life. We heavily relate to each other and the relationship has been very healthy for both of us. For healing our personal traumas and bettering our mental health. People who blindly hate on age gaps between legal adults without further thought would rather have me be alone and suicidal than see me happy with the person I love. The real issue with age gaps lies with the complex power dynamics and difference in maturity levels. However, if we fail to acknowledge that there is a real chance of the power dynamics not being negative and the maturity levels being equal despite the age gap, then we'll not make progress in truly understanding grooming and abuse in worldwide culture and society. Acknowledging the complexity of relationships, regardless of age gap, and understanding the complexity of the individuals in such relationships is the way to go. Not simply admonishing and hating on age gaps without any thought.

It would heavily depend on the dynamics of the relationship and how they relate to each other. Some 18 and 19 year olds are still mentally children, while others are responsible adults with the capability to consent with someone much older.

@theblobconsumes4859 As the video states it had been said that they knew each other prior but it is unsubstantiated. What is real is that they have both talked about first meeting each other at the audition for the film. Aaron has said he was embarrassed to not have known about her work prior to meeting. It is an online invention that she is a friend of his family. And outside of someone actually being mentally impaired, maturity is not a useful or legal barometer to pin whether should have a relationship with someone older. There are 30 year olds who are immature, those that preclude them from dating?

@@gogoubari1432 In that case, I don't think it's a problem. I don't know the dynamics of their relationship myself, so it's not my place to argue that there's something wrong there. Maybe there's something wrong with the dynamics, but I wouldn't know because I don't know them.

God all the clips you showed made me sick to my stomach as a boy who was preyed upon by both adult women and adult men. I can’t believe how normalized it is. As a man I had a lot of pressure to lose my virginity or have sex, which I honestly really didn’t want to do. I had a very unpleasant sexual encounter which I only agreed to because I felt like it was right for me to do it as a man. If you’re a man, you don’t need to have sex to be “cool”. Even though I do feel like some people, men and women, judge me for being a virgin, I’m proud of myself for sticking to what I believe.

As a society, we need to stop justifying sexual behavior out of pure lust and selfishness especially when it hurts someone because "we're animals and it's normal in nature". It is ok when wild animals do it because they don't know better nor do they have a way to know better. Wild animals don't have a sense of morality. They just know to survive and reproduce. People do know better and have ways of knowing better. We have a sense of morality. We know not to hurt people and to respect peoples boundaries. having sex shouldn't make you cool or uncool. Sex shouldn't be something minors are encouraged to to. People shouldn't feel pressured to have sex. It is a personal experience that only effects you and the person you shared the experience with. Sex is for intimacy with your significant other and for having children. When you use sex for selfish desires and/or for societal validation, it leads to nothing but trouble and regret. As teenagers, it's normal to be curious and want to explore your sexuality but you shouldn't be having sex with people or disrespecting people's boundaries. When you start developing these urges and curiosities, you need to learn to control yourself and hold yourself accountable. Society needs to hold people accountable. Parents, schools, and other authority figures need to educate teenagers about sex, how to control themselves, why they should control themselves, and holding teens accountable when they misuse sex. People should just have sex with anything that has a pulse at any given moment. People should wait until they're adults that are in love and ready for that kind of intimacy with their significant other. Society needs to stop exploiting teenagers and let teenagers enjoy their childhoods. Sex is an adult thing that has adult consequences and minors should not be partaking in such a high risk thing.

Oops. Sorry to break it to you but my childhood was destroyed by far worse things than s*x. Living too restricted of a life was way more damaging. Choosing to explore my s*xuality and run wild in my youth was the best thing that ever happened to me. I lost my actual virginity when I was 17 but I...had other types of fun and many flings before that. I took control of my own life and did something because I wanted to. Consequences came for me and I faced them bravely. Because it was the right thing to do and because I regretted nothing. People shouldn't be pressured to have s*x and shouldn't be encouraged either. But if you push kids away from it they will do it. They will do it just as a middle finger to you for daring to tell them what they can and can't do with their body. And when THAT starts happening they WILL get hurt. They'll be hooking up in alleyways or bushes and risking bacteria, injuries or worst of all getting caught by the cops and then having a record. The only thing you can really do and hope for the best is this. Tell your kids: 1. Wait as long as possible to have sex, there is no rush, do it when you're ready. The youngest anybody should be having s*x is at least 15. 2. Be SAFE. Use protection and/or get on birth control and only do it in safe places. Do not do it in school and or in public and risk the whole rest of your life being ruined. 3. Be picky and choosy with who you do that with. Especially losing your virginity. I personally believe everyone's first time regardless of circumstances should be with someone they LOVE. And someone who hopefully loves them. But even after that, even if you do it with someone you don't love, do it with someone who respects you and isn't mistreating you or dragging you into anything. Whether you like it or not we ARE still animals. We have control over ourselves but we're still not that much better than they are. We have our physical desires and we care very deeply about reproducing (most of us). Ultimately there's nothing you can do to stop someone if they want to do that. You can't imprison them, you can't tie a girls legs together or put a chastity belt on someone. Those are the only things you could do to actually stop someone from having s*x but you would be a complete monster to do that. All you can do is encourage your kids to be safe and smart about their experiences so they hopefully don't regret them later. And let them know you'll be there for them and love them no matter what.

The hing up with Aaron Taylor-Johnson os rooted in the fact that the overwhelming majority of groomed children never escape. These adults hobble their sense of self and development of maturity so they become essentially trapped and afraid or unaware of life post of or free from them. Grooming taken to its end is a violence that self perpetuates and can't be undone abd is rarely stoppable. He is still a victim of grooming and will be for the foreseeable future if trends mean anything.

my bf had a 16 year old girlfriend when he was 12 that would molest him but he didnt even know he was being molested till he told me and i was like,,, yeah thats molestation... she would force him to do things that he didnt understand at the time. he said she even asked him for sex but not knowing what that was he was hesitant and she changed the subject. a 12 year old does not need to be fondling a 16 year olds boobs, even if he "wanted" to. kids wanna do things they shouldnt do all the time, kids wanna smoke and drink bc they think thats what adults do, of they wanna see boobs too, thats what adults do. that doesnt mean its okay and its our responsibility as adults to teach the younger generation the difference between right and wrong. anything besides a 1-2 year age gap is weird and unnecessary. it doesnt matter if youre 15, 12, or 17, the difference in age groups at those ages are insane. this is coming from someone that was dating 20 year olds at 13 and who is now 22 and cant even BEGIN to imagine being attracted to someone even a year younger than me. its seriously weird how people try to justify it, especially when theyre like "its legal"- but like.... so was child marriage, slavery, and spousal abuse???? nasty mfs that try to justify it, nasty

You are a teenager yourself though with a 1-year age gap that is not weird in the slightest. The problem at its core is about the power dynamics and the maturity that comes with significant age gaps. Like I am 24 but I can't imagine being with someone under 21 because I know we are on different maturity and mental levels, that age threshold will continue to get higher for me as I grow older.

the data doesn't represent it, because it's hugely underreported. Boys aren't allowed to report being sexually abused by older women because they will be seen as weak or feminine. All of the boys peers will be trying to high five them when they tell them. Even older men would high five the child. Having sexual relations with an older woman is seen as a right of passage for many men. I was pursued for sexual attention/relations even since a very young age, well before puberty and well after. I was told by society that this was normal. So, I said nothing.

This topic was handled with a lot of tact and I can greatly appreciate it. Way too often it becomes a competition of sorts, where men dismiss the trauma of women, simply to point out that it happens to men, too, despite not being at nearly the same rate. Two things can be true at once and both situations need to be addressed more often.

I think the unfortunate thing is that, these depictions are based on the general feelings towards sex of young boys and even adult men. I mean, these shows are produced by men. These grown adults of 40+ genuinely see no issue with these depictions. In general, whereas a woman will look back on her 16 year old self being with a 20 year old and be appalled, most guys that I know at least are STILL proud of it-or at least indifferent-even 20 years later. However, what that leads to is in the cases where something like this does happen and the guy genuinely DOES see it as a problem, it’s not taken as seriously. Justin Beiber is my big one, where the things that women were doing and saying to him on live television was *APALLING.*

The example I know the most in this case is Ni-ki (Riki Nishimura) from the KPop group Enhypen. When he debuted in 2020 he was 14. He wasn’t the only minor in the group at the time so people just treated him like a regular kid at first, but then, in their second mini album, there was a song called Fever which was very purposefully sexual, and the agency had the very brilliant idea to make Ni-ki and Jungwon, the two youngest members, 15 and 17 at the time, lead the two choruses. When I tell you a fuck ton of adult women started simping for Ni-ki then, I mean it. I would see tons of comments from grown women, including but not limited to some 30-40 year old women making gross sexual comments about him, nearly all along the lines of « I saw my daughter watching this and I loved the blonde one [insert thirst] ». He was 15, and he very clearly LOOKED 15 as well, there was no mistaking it and excusing it by saying « Oh but I thought he was older ». Just go watch the music video for yourself, he’s the little blondie who’s in the center during the 2nd chorus. The story doesn’t end there, though. By the time Ni-ki turned 16 he was 6’0 tall and his voice got even deeper than it already was, so everywhere he went, even if the song he was singing and dancing to wasn’t sexual, more and more adult women just flooded in with horny comments for Ni-ki. That continued all the way till he turned 18. Remember that other minor I mentioned earlier? Jungwon? During his 18th birthday live, all of the comments were « omg happy birthday Jungwon! » or « Hope you have a nice day! » or stuff like that. Ni-ki, however, when he turned 18, his comment section looked more like this: « Ugh finally I can admit I love you without it being weird since you’re an adult» and « I can openly call you the sexiest Enhypen member now! » (not that his age stopped them in the past). Pretty gross, right? Some people made an interesting(ly stupid) argument however: Ni-ki « sexualized himself ». Afterall, Ni-ki is known for his « sultry voice » and his « seductive » facial expressions. He also flirts with women at his meet and greets and is known for teasing the audience with his dance moves. It MUST be HIS fault he got sexualized, no? Jesus christ. One time, during a live show, Ni-ki rolled his jacket back to expose his shoulders while doing a body roll or something. The oldest member of the group, Heeseung, called him out, telling him out loud that a minor shouldn’t do such a thing. Was it a difficult thing to do? No. It was super easy. Tell me why this guy was allowed to be portrayed in a « sexy » manner for his entire teenage years? Were there no adults in a position of authority who even cared about him? If Heeseung was able to call him out on attempting to thirst trap the audience, why were nobody else there to do the same thing when he sang Fever or when he was selected to do the choreo for Bite Me (which is about vampires but yk the real message is about sex)? Is it that hard to protect a minor’s image? Is it that hard to keep them away from anything sexual? And more importantly, is it that hard NOT to simp for a whole ass MINOR whenever he opens his mouth to speak? Seriously, every adult who is involved in this is at wrong. You should not be letting a minor under your care do sexy shit on camera for hundreds of millions of people, nor should you be simping for said minor. Ni-ki didn’t know better, but the staff did. His family isn’t even in Korea, he’s 100% Japanese, so the people in the agency are essentially his caretakers ever since he’s been like 13. So you, who are like the only adults in a position of authority over him (the staff), why did you let this happen? This week a grown ass woman grabbed him by the arm and kept brushing her hand against him in an airport. She was probably old enough to have children his age. God.
