"don't want to be confronted with genitalia all the time" is honestly such a mood when it comes to not just romance novels but just life in general really.

I JUST finished this book! I do agree with you that the "honeymoon" part of the book should have lasted even longer. It definitely seemed like 2 entirely different stories between what happened in Maui vs. what happened when Ethan and Olive got back home. I wish the writers explored the fake marriage coverup with the Hamiltons or with Sophie, but that's just me. And I also agree with you on the ending...very cliché and meh. I can't wait how they'll interpet it for the film adaptation!

The Hating Game was so hyped but it was so bad imo... it was cringeworthy, bad dialogue, main characters who act really immature and dumb, and they’re NOT enemies like people say 😩 no chemistry what so ever. But The Unhoneymooners sounds like fun, I might pick it up soon!

So if you like that then you might enjoy: The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang The Bride Test by Helen Hoang The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner And yeah, definitely check out Josh and Hazel because they are so cute together 🧡🧡 And The Hating Game is the main reason I've jumped back into romance after years of only reading fantasy 😅 Also keep an out out for Well Met by Jen DeLuca. It comes out in September and it sounds like it will be a fun story.

From Lukov, with Love by Mariana Zapata is a fun enemies to friends to lovers sports romance. Very slowburn. One smutty scene that is easy to skip. Learning disability rep, which was important to me. Reminded me a little of The Cutting Edge, if you've ever seen that movie. I actually read The Unhoneymooners after seeing you talk about it because it sounded similar to From Lukov, with Love in terms if tropes and stuff.

I have nothing against smut and erotica, I've read 50 shades, but that's just not really my cup of tea. Mostly because it just starts to get repetitive so I find myself skipping over those scenes. for adult romance with little sex I reccommend Just Married by Natasha West (fake marriage, the sex is fade to black), evidence of the affair by taylor jenkins reid (a romance over letters, almost no actual physical contact between the characters), and marriage of unconvenience by chelsea m cameron (also very little sex as far as i remember, and a fake marriage, friends to lovers) How Do you feel about YA romance? Because Siera Maley as an author is HIGHLEY underrated. I especially recommend Taking Flight (forced togetherness, messy main character, slow burn), and Colorblind (has a hint of fabulism) Also in the YA department, we have Tell Me How You Really Feel by Amina Mae Safi which is an enemies to lovers forced to work on a project together romance

Now I am really excited to read the book! I can recommend A Girl like Her by Talia Hibbert. It has an unapologetically prickly heroine, diversity, wit, consent, strong female characters and a really likable Hero. Since I don't mind them, I am not 100 % sure about the amount of smut scenes, there definitely are some, but I don't think they were too much or annoying. Also without the most used romance tropes (Millionaire, Bad Boy, bitchy bitches etc). And yes, if you don't like smut, stay far away from Laurens Beautiful and Wild series. Those are more erotica than romance. Perhaps you could also enjoy the Hidden Legacy trilogy by Ilona Andrews, a more or less slow burn Paranormal romance with great characters and actual plot and world building.

I had a question, how do you connect with YA characters and why do you choose YA or YA type books more often than other books? ( I feel not being in high school or college people don't seem to understand why I like YA). I ask cause I've always read YA but as I've gotten older I find it hard sometimes to connect to a 16-year-old character when I'm 15 or so years older than the main character. I hope this makes sense! Thank you!

I actually don't read with YA characters and I don't choose YA books more. I read more adult these days. lol this book for example is adult and I don't want to read YA contemporary really anymore because it's much harder to relate to the main characters. I still read YA SFF because those characters always read older to me and are dealing with more adult problems, so I honestly tend to age them up in my head a lot to mid 20s.

I love the Unhoneymooners! I don’t remember a lot of smutty scenes in their book Love and Other Words, but it’s been awhile since I read it so I don’t remember specifics 😅 I would recommend Sarah Addison Allen’s books. She writes contemporaries with a magical element to them. The Girl Who Chased the Moon, Garden Spells, The Peach Keeper. The romances aren’t necessarily front and center in these books, but they’re still great. I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on The Hating Game. I’m in the minority of people who couldn’t stand that book. I thought they were both assholes and didn’t really get why they liked each other...at all. I also didn’t like Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating. So maybe I’m the problem. 🤣 Also, some anti-recommendations if you don’t like smut: The Kiss Quotient (I LOVE this book, but there are several graphic sex scenes.) Fix Her Up (Awful Book, nothing but cringy sex scenes and even cringier dialogue)
