She had rentokill fumigate and treat the whole house over the period of a week . After the kill period, about 1 year, she has had no further issues, and has renovated it without any problem. Do you have house surveys before you buy there? I realise it was a very reasonably priced house but such a shame the woodworm is going to give you more work. Also would it be worth while investing in a small trailer for your tip runs? I think you’re going to have many more trips there 😊

I think his dad had a small trailer but probably not road worthy/safe. I don't think it has tail lights, power brakes or a license plate.

Thanks for translating the “tip”. I was momentarily confused. And you had me in tears with the “rotten” comment. “Ixnay on the otten ray”. 😂😂😂 (Marty Feldman-Young Frankenstein)

Is there a fee to dump at the tip? In California at my local dump, actually we have 2, there is a fee. At one it is by the cubic yard, minimum 1, and at the other it is per pound, minimum 500. The volumetric dump is a bit dodgy, because they just eyeball it with a measuring stick. And it isn't cheap either $80 per yard/500lbs. So if you just have a car, it could get expensive really fast.

Loved your video. Ryan, you should cover the window downstairs with plywood then set a box there under the hole. Then go upstairs and make the hole a little bigger. Then put all the dirt through the hole so it drops into the box. Then put it it your bags for the dump. That way it saves you time taking it downstairs. Thank you for sharing your beautiful new home with us. I speak from experience save all the lifting you can. My best friend and I built a home together. Everyone told us at our age, which at the time I was 42. We did it. This was all before KZitem. I looked everything up online at old building shows. Many blessings to you and your family. Keep up the good work. 😊❤❤

Sorry it would not let me fix it. They told us we would not be able to build it. We did. It was a great learning experience. Looking forward to seeing you finish it.

You can see why it was only 15 grand. You should try to get some volunteers to help out.😁

Ryan removing the dirt base is going to reveal the wooden subfloor and weaken the floor on which you are standing. I think a scaffold may be needed so that you have a solid place to be while removing the floor. take out the floor and make a space for scaffold and go from there the beam is done for and needs replacing. If one floor is dodgey count on having to remove and replace all flooring in time

Why is there a dirt base on the floor to begin with?

@@rumakingthatup, insulation. It was a pretty common way to insulate between floors for quite a long time.

Ryan, you are so charming and have a great sense of humor. I think in the future when you have a family and your children are old enough to watch these videos, they will enjoy them completely. Woodworm seems to be the nightmare of chateau owners and I believe homes all across France. So, it appears you have been welcomed into the club of woodworm owners!!! I suppose any future wood beams and planks will have to be treated. I’m American and I can truly say I prefer the word Tip as opposed to Dump!! It sounds kinder, and more appealing. Great video, Ryan. You always make me laugh and it’s so good seeing you work on your new huge purchase. I love the railing and bannister on the staircase. It’s going to be an amazing house. xx

Perhaps a small trailer would be your best bet for hauling stuff to the tip and supplies from Brico.

Trailers are very expensive, and it does not look like he has parking for one.

@@janetpendlebury6808 It really depends on the type of trailer that he buys. He isn't going to pull a large one behind his car. Just a small utility trailer that can be pulled behind a small car like his should be fine. He has a parking problem already, therefore loading up a trailer with rubbish to go to the tip shouldn't be that bad. Ed on the Bordeaux Life YT channel parks his van on the street to load and unload it. So I guess Ryan would be fine parking on the street too. But you do make a very good point.
