I have been learning photoshope since 2011. I watched various photoshope tutorial both inside and outside of youtube. Your videos are more useful than most of the paid tutorial videos. Your style of teaching behind the seen logic in photoshope is superb. This is the main uniqueness of your videos which most of other's tutorial doesn't teach. I always watch your every videos. I salute your passion. Long live "PiXimperfect".

If you used curves, instead of color balance, with the blend mode set to "color", would that effectively do the same thing as "preserve luminosity" in the color balance function, without having to change the RGB luminance values to counter what is introduced by curves in the "normal" blend mode? If not, why would it be different?
@Javaman92

May I suggest something. I share space with others, and often while watching a KZitem channel the creators have intros that are considerably louder than the content. I try to rush and turn things down, but often miss a good part. Would you consider moderating the variation in your content? Thanks.

Or just put the curves' blending mode to "color" and it will preserve the luminosity just like the color balance.

Same. Still, there's a convenience at times (especially when going back to fine tune the color balance more than once) to have the color balance sliders right there in front of you rather than having to repeatedly select each color curve and tweak it as in the curves aadjustment. But ultimately, the end result should be the same.
@user-xc7jm2xd9d
Жыл бұрын
@@Analisem1 It's not quite the same. If you're in Color mode you'll need a second curve set to Luminosity with a matching shift in the combined RGB to match the final result as in Color Balance, or just use Normal blend mode and alter the RGB as he does in this video. Test it, you'll see. "Preserve Luminosity" is confusing - I thought it worked this way too (just curves in color), at first but its definitely different behind the scenes and tries to balance the color shifts with an overall RGB move.

It is really helpful when you make sense explaining the different ways of doing actually the same thing in Photoshop. And also why one way may sometimes be easier because of some small tweak in that tool... Photoshop, and many other complex software, can be scary for newbies. But having someone to "demystify" the tools really helps. Thanks so very much for a splendid tutorial.

In Camera Raw yellow-blue balance does not work the same way as in color balance. Check on vectorscope! In Camera Raw, color marking is inaccurate! There is no yellow-blue balance! Mostly teal-orange balance. Kelvin balance mostly teal-orange balance.

I always discarded color balance in photoshop. My thought was "I can just use curves, turn the blending option to color, and boom. I only effect color." That's an extra step and you have to be really good at curves to get a good result. Much easier and you get very similar results. Thanks for the tutorial.

In other hand, i would like to ask: There a blend mode called "color" where any color modifications fits with the shadow,mid and high tones, how would the "color" blend mode work?. Thanks
