About to listen to this but best compliment I can pay you, Chris, is that this diversion to a History episode is proof of how excellent this podcast is. I can't imagine another podcast that marries and covers so many varying political views, economic views, health topics, social topics, technology topics and now it seems, History! Your desire to just follow what you find interesting and speak with real curiosity with thought leaders in those topics, is what's made this so, so good. I never squirm at a topic or guest when I see it pop up on my feed - this podcast has taught me the value of appreciating differing opinions and perspectives, to help find my own.

Great discussion on tech addiction at the 1:50:00 mark. Great point that history and literature is a great counterweight to help ground us and contextualize. The never ending now is a terrible development and a constant effort to drive everyone to the most addictive, attention grabbing content inevitably leads to a dumbing down.

About 15' in and I find most of this impossible to believe. He's speaking with certainty and confidence, which is appealing, seductive even, but it'd be hard to be this sure if you were recounting the life of someone, anyone alive today. Contrast with Ed Barnhart for instance, who made it very clear when he and others were speculating - which is most of the time :-)
