We had one in Birmingham, Alabama, in the late '90s/early 2000s. The food and atmosphere were fantastic. Then they made some changes to the menu and raised their prices and it was never the same again. Not sure when it went out of business, but today the building is still standing empty.

I worked at Joe's. When they closed in michigan, they did it secretly over night. Workers showed up for their shifts that morning only to be greated by a closed sign and chained doors. People who worked there for over a decade lost their jobs without notice. I also got "invited" to join a law suit against them for unpaid wages but declined.

@@ambersicherman7787 live in Lake Orion, Michigan and used to go to that one all the time as a kid, it's a shame that it shut down but glad that A+ Crab took it over and isn't just sitting there abandoned like some locations, also that's complete BS how they treated there employees who went out of there way to not only entertain there customers and just tossed there employees aside without warning like that, that's illegal they were supposed to warn everybody at least a week ahead of time, I saw a news report of this same thing happening to a location in Pennsylvania

I'm from Jacksonville Florida and the local Joe's Crab Shack is directly on the beach of the Atlantic Ocean. The local marinas and waterways are filled with fishing and shrimping boats but you can't get local shrimp, crab or any fresh fish at Joe's. I have been to Joe's twice to sit on the deck with friends and watch the ocean while enjoying an adult beverage but local places even do that better. A block inland is a Seafood Market with screened in 2nd floor dining, less view, better selection of local fresh seafood made to order at much better prices

Me and my family always used to go to the location in Auburn Hills, Michigan and my only complaint was you'd pay high prices for food that wasn't even high price quality, however in 2017 when all locations in Michigan went under, the Joe's Crab Shack in Auburn Hills also fell victim, closed and was sitting vacant for about a few years until A+ Crab took it over i would say just shortly after the pandemic, im glad another business took it over because i did some research and there are several locations across the country even today that are still just sitting there vacant and abandoned and are now in almost condemnable conditions 😔

The one near me opened to great fanfare. The food was amazing and the place was always packed. Then they started serving what looked like cast-off seafood. As soon as the quality declined, so did the customer base. Closed soon after. Such a shame. Even though the prices were high people paid because they got what they paid for. Bad business model altogether. They tried to be cheap instead of keeping the customers happy.

I have always wanted to go, when, we tried to go to one in Louisville, KY there was huge, and, I am talking a huge long line and, not only that they had like 4 tower flight of steps you had to go up before you can even get into the door, for a person with a form of arthritis like I have, that’s just too much too muster and, when, the lines that long, it’s just hard to stand that long. Through that we left the line and went next door to King Fish, glad we did cause, we started going there and, they had great Fried Cod Fish, and, so we started making it a habit to go there for quite sometime.

Regarding the Joe’s Crab Shack No tipping policy, most people do not know that the word “TIP”, is actually an acronym for To Insure Promptness. Therefore, no promptness, a TIP is optional. It might not be the waiter’s fault (i.e. slow cooking staff) but a good waiter will kick butt in the kitchen to Insure Promptness1
@shyladare
2 жыл бұрын
Anyone who's been a server knows to never "kick butt" with any of the other staff or they'll get screwed forevermore. Never fuck with the kitchen, bar, or host stand. Your food will always be wrong, your drinks will always be slow, and you'll be the last to get a table.

@@shyladare Where do you get your "Facts" from? Yet another idiot with NO BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, claimed knowledge. Sigh. Ok, let's go with your "Living Wage" fallicy. WHO PAYS the Living Wage? It's Not the Employer, It's Not the Government. It's YOU, the Customer who pays the Living Wage. Suddenly your Meal which would arbitrarially cost $8.00 now costs $20.00. Costs of operating a Business comes down to Rent, Taxes, Employee Costs (Pay, Employee Taxes, Insurance, FICA, SSI, SDI) Medical Insurance Workman's Comp Ins.
