the original title “Life is Like a Box of Chicken” is crazy seeing how the story told in “Duckworth” is about how unpredictable life is and how Kendrick’s dad working at a KFC and thinking quick basically saved his life and protected his son’s future. Truth is Stranger Than Fiction.

Everyone is chasing to make "This Type Beat". Make music for you and that is Way Outside Of The Box. It's always interesting to hear what "classic" and "iconic" works in someone's discog were completely tossed by someone else, it always makes for interesting "what if" ponderings. I'm definitely glad these all went to Kendrick, along with Pharrell's "Alright" beat that was originally intended for Tyga (which sounds like an insane song arc even before you hear the demos 😂😂)

That's why the beat switch was so seamless. I've listened to many songs where the beat switches without seamless transition, it's like a new song was playing, i.e. Travis Scott's "STARGAZING." Then some songs I've listened to, oversaturate the song with beats that are not cohesive, i.e. Beyoncè's "House." What made me enjoy that beat for DUCKWORTH was the fact 9th kept the same kick and bass and all three were soul based samples.
