I'm from STL and I remember hearing about a band named "The Urge" doing shows all the time, but I didn't know any of their music. OR SO I THOUGHT. This song has popped up my head on and off for the last ... 18 years I guess, and today is the first time I tried to find it and listen - I never knew who sang it, but googled "90's jump right in" ... and it's the Urge. Man. I so would have gone to see them if I'd known this was them. I love this song.

311 is the band that exposed me to the Urge, back in the 90s when 311 was touring for the grassroots album and The Urge was still on Neatguy Records. I ended up following both bands around NY, NJ, PA and Maryland for a few years. Met them all a few times and had a beer with Steve on their bus and played video games with them.

+Tommy Pogue That's awesome, I saw them open for Jimmy Cliff of all people at the Tradewinds in Sea Bright , NJ and spent a lot of time bsing with Bill and we exchanged emails a bunch of times. I saw them in Phoenix where I lived and then we flew to St Louis for their Christmas shows in 2000. I was supposed to go to London to see them when they went on their European Tour earlier in 2000 but the London show was canceled and I never made it :( but one of the coolest bands I've ever met.

every line of this song has been so relatable for me, and everytime i listen to it i feel like its what i do in relationships like whatever, jump right into the mess despite the red flags and all then leave again and again and again. "i dont know what im feeling anymore, i guess its time to end this affair like i dont care, i dont care" or even "ask MD for ways out of this stress, a wave of panic everytime i lose my hair" ive got GAD and MDD, i ask my psychiatrist for advice but wait to get prescription for meds. This whole song perfectly explains my experience in relationships while making it catchy

JUMP RIGHT IN LYRICS: Sitting at the edge of the bed One million thoughts as I reflect. Tease me just a little I'm not hard to persuade fully aware for this that I might pay. Not too much that can be said Thinking about the bad things in my head, Always wondering if what they said was true Now I'm in the bed with... Even though she was no stranger, Chose the one keep me out of danger. No song and dance just jump right in. CHORUS Fought the urge to do it - skin to skin What the hell here I go - jump right in Standing in the doorway of distress Ask MD, for ways out of this mess, A wave of panic every time I lose a hair I believe I'm falling apart but not quite despair. Turns into this one thing I just can't ignore Don't know what I am feeling anymore I guess it's time to end this affair Like I don't care I don't care. CHORUS Fought the urge to do it - skin to skin What the hell here I go - jump right in Even though she was no stranger Chose the one keep me out of danger No song and dance I took my chances with her No time to waste. Just jump right in I said to her Stand in the doorway of distress No time to waste just jump right in, CHORUS Fought the urge to do it - skin to skin What the hell here I go - jump right in
