Kinda gave up on Coolermaster's SFX PSUs. I had 3 V850SFX models and all of them came with a ridiculous low-pitched coil whine that penetrated EVERYTHING. I could even hear it in my bathroom. Switched to an SF750 and now all is well.

Corsairs 750 watt Platinum and a custom sleeved 12vWHPR cable is all I have needed for my 7800x3s/4090/fe 2x24gb 5600/2x WD SN850X 2Tb and a 120 slim fan ,in a FRACTAL Terra. Good overview.

My custom sleeved cable somehow died or my sf750 somehow died. I was like rather than replacing with the same psu or waiting on another custom sleeve cable. I was like I should just upgrade. Corsair currently only has sfx-L 1000w psus and I have a formdt1. They do not fit. Honestly if corsair made a new sfx 1000w psu that wasnt sfx-L i wouldve 100% went to that one.

I have the 850W Cooler Master SFX supply and also am bummed by the fan noise. I replaced the fan in mine with the Noctua fan that's a drop-in fit and it cut the noise in half probably but it is still the loudest thing in that system.

@@muinarc0huh, I was considering getting the asus loki psu just because of all the reviews mentioning the high noise on the other options. But it's cheaper to get the corsair psu and a noctua fan than the asus unit. Is there anywhere I can read more about fan compatibility and replacment for psus ?

@muinarc0

@@rockyyz89 It is a Noctua NF A9x14. The plug on the Noctua is a standard 4 pin and the connector in the PSU is a "2-pin Mini XH 2.5mm", so you either need an adapter that adds extra wire that you need to squeeze into the PSU, or like I chose to do, cut off the connector of the stock fan and solder it onto the Noctua.

I will probably just stick with my SF750 for a few more years or until Corsair releases an even better version. The sleeved cables are just way too good and you can just simply get a 12vhpwr cable for it. The fans also never turn on even on my 7950x+4080 build.

I have the 1300w version and before that I had the 750w from Corsair and I do agree that that one is more quiet but the difference to me is negligible. For example my AIO (NZXT Z63 240mm) is what I here more when idle/gaming rather than the PSU since the AIO pump that is a high pitched noise I actually prefer the fact that the sockets protrude because it makes it so much easier to remove or connect them when you are building your PC or when you want/need to take out one of the cables

Nice review on the PSU. I doubt I'll ever need that much power, but it's good to see the option exists. Just wondering if you, or anyone else, has picked up on the AMD GPUs power draw at idle being lower than previously reported? Aparently the lower idle power consumption is affected by monitors that have VSync/GSync enabled. So when you where measuring the power draw was it connected to a monitor as it could have made a difference? Still it is as you say, very quite.

Super helpful review!! I'm attempting my first pc build and I'm going to build in thr nr200p. I appreciate your description about wattage and how we don't need anything over 850 unless you're using the 13/14900k's. Keep up the great content! Side question, since the 7800x3d has a relatively low power draw during gaming, would the CM v850 gold be okay with any gpu?

Good review. I'd never get one because of all the reports of how noisy they are but I appreciate the review. One question, why spell out 12VHPWR every time and not just call it "twelve volt high-power", that seems like it would flow better? Same with AWG, why not say "guage" after spelling out the rest once. I think it would improve flow

I have v1300 of this brand, imo ... selling sfx PSU size but include the super stiff and bulky cable, while asking for premium price is .... meh .. Dont even bother to use cable in SFF case, its not even usable in mid ATX size, this is very critical product design flaws. At least they should bundle the cable that soft as cable in NR200P Max case. BTW, no systems need 1100w in small SFX case, 6GHZ 13900KS + 4090 in sub-15L case ? No .. that wont work. if you have hardware that really need that much power, you need a larger cooler, larger radiator, larger case. So you dont need SFX psu anymore, you can go cheaper SFX-L or even ATX PSU instead. Good product always came in full package, not just one piece in a box. Thats why corsair SF750 or even CM v850 still being preferred in SFF build.

The fan noise is okay at medium load, but it's completely unacceptable at low loads. I can't believe that they ruined an otherwise great PSU with the decision to have one fan speed for 0-700w. This makes absolutely no sense. I tried to replace the fan with a less noisy one to get the noise down a little, but the fan fail protection immediately kicks in. I can't recommend this PSU to anyone who doesn't exclusively watch movies or plays games, because the base noise is annoying if you want to just work in silence.
