One of my fears is around trying new foods as well, I was afraid of trying new foods that I didn't know the calories of and only ever ate the same thing when I went out. Recently I've been purposely trying new things! I tried something new yesterday and it was really good! I might eat something new again today! Or eat something with potatoes, potatoes are scary 😅

for me personally i feel like its not really foods themselves anymore but its portion sizes that make me more nervous, as in trying to eat the 'right' portion size

For anyone struggling with this, please keep going and do not give up. Keep trying something new and push your comfort zone bit by bit. Everyone is proud of your progress! Keep goingg!!

One of my biggest food fears is just not knowing the calories, like not having any idea at all which for most foods I can make a pretty decent guess but I can’t bring myself to eat food that I just don’t know the calories of :/ (eg. Like at a restaurant that doesn’t show calories or smth)

me and my ed therapist do this thing where we go out to cute local cafes in town and we try pick something on the menu that i'm not comfortable eating or just straight up terrified of, we've done this for the past six months and now i've started having some of those fears foods daily or way more often now! i remember the first few times i was crying sooooo much in the middle of the cafe but i still pushed and i did it !! 💁♀️🫶

i definitely think this mindset is looked at as impossible when you are starting recovery, but it can follow you even a year after you initially started recovering. That’s why they say it takes an average of seven years to recover. Even if you think you have challenged yourself within a year, you still can have those same thoughts and this is why people tend to relapse. So it’s important to continue to challenge yourself.

One of my largest fear foods is any fast food, especially McDonald’s.
