CoolsBreeze Still annoys me. They rushed the ending to this show when there was still so much of the story to tell, leaving it still open. SGU was not an SG show for me. It lacked the format, humour and characters of the first two SGs.

@@frankanderson5012 well it managed to get better with season 2. But it was still not SG-1 or SG:A. I still enjoyed SGU because it was the only stargate thing we had left. So sad its 10 Years now and nothing great like SGA and SG-1 coming again :(

Yeah, that still pisses me off, too. I hated SGU as much as I loved SG-1 and Atlantis. They went from having fun and adventures with a ton of loveable characters to trying to be all dark and mysterious with one likeable character and a whole bunch of emo twats and cackstabbing bunts.
@theblackwidower
3 жыл бұрын
They didn't cancel Atlantis for Stargate Universe, they cancelled Atlantis, and then decided to greenlight a separate show called Stargate Universe. Just because the events happened at the same time doesn't mean there's a causal relationship. Though there is a confirmed causal relationship between SGU getting cancelled, and the Atlantis movie getting 'indefinitely shelved'. So... food for thought.

The ethical train dilemma is a problem that hinders AI on a global scale, ie. self-driving cars; What if a car drives on a thin mountain road, then goes around a blind spot corner, and suddenly there's a person on the road. A computer can certainly react faster than a human, but like us, the car it controls is hard bound to physics. At instant reaction time, brake distance still has a minimal distance. The computer is faced with 2 options; move off the cliff killing the driver, or hit the person in the road. Giving a prefixed bias programmatically is even worse. If we chose to bias towards killing the person in the road, then people could abuse this with careful planning, to settle personal vendettas and blame the car. If we chose to bias towards driving off the cliff, you can also murder simply by figuring out someone's routine and walk in front of someone's car in ambiguous and inherently dangerous traffic situations.

I have a related experience in New Westminster in the early 2000's, I was waiting for the Skytrain, to go to Choir Practice. And a young couple, with a 3 year old girl, rolled up next to me, and I use to stand on the very edge, and they went parallel to me. And when I never looked at them or her, they dumped her onto the tracks infront of me, as the skytrain rolled into the station. I jumped onto the tracks and the mother reached out for the child, I held her close and said, "no, you tried to kill you child, you donot get her back. Another women can have her.. till the ministry can find her a home". Then another lady ran forward and took the child and then I got off the tracks, just missing my foot by milimeters.
