I want the styrofoam back. It actually did something to keep your order hot while you were on your way home. Styrofoam packaging was the only reason why the McDLT concept actually worked. The oblong container that was divided in the middle kept the hot side hot and the cool side cool. Styrofoam drink cups though? No thanks. LOL Every now and then, I'd get one of the coffee cups that would spring a leak after about 10 minutes or so. Who hasn't had one of those!?!? It wasn't always a full on leak though. Sometimes it was just seepage. Not much better though, because either way, I still want my coffee to stay on the inside of the cup until I tell it otherwise.

After you went inside, right after the Legos that you remember, and I do too, those cars were called Stompers. They were popular during the late 70s and a little bit of the early 80s. The models that were bought in store were battery powered, had lights, and I think they may have had two speed gearboxes too. There were a couple other companies that made Stomper like trucks, but unless it said Schaper on the package, it wasn't a Stomper and it wasn't acceptable. They were straight line trucks, so no steering, and no radio control. My brother and I each had a few of them. Sold separately, you could also get some kind of off-road course with peaks, valleys, logs and other stuff to race them on, but a lot of us also used our school text books and other things when the actual Stompers courses got boring. I don't remember for sure, but I think each of them coming with two sets of tires. One set was hard rubber and the other set was a not too soft, but just the right density foam. I'd say they were roughly on the order of the foam block that you might find some new Casio watches wrapped around. The McD's Happy Meal toy Stompers that were on display where you were, those were kid powered, and the bodies and tires were removable so they could freely be interchanged back and forth with the AA battery powered versions.

I remember those hamburger igloo tunnel things! I remember hiding in them, when I was playing in the play area at my childhood McDonald's. I even remember what they smelled like inside, lol. Because of all the sweaty kids that crawled through them, and of course being at McDonald's, they always smelled like fries and feet inside, LMAO! I remember the hamburger jail, too. The character's name was Officer Bigmac, IIRC. And that Hamburgler bust you passed just outside of the entrance would've been part of a swingset-his (missing) outstretched arms would have held the swings. I remember the Fry Kids rocker/bouncer ride-on thingie, too. Yes, I remember the styrofoam. I remember having a birthday party at McDonald's once, as a little kid, and one of the games was to see who could stack the most styrofoam burger boxes. (It's harder than it sounds, especially considering styrofoam holds a static charge, lol.) I remember when smoking was allowed in places like McDonald's. And yes, I would DEFINTELY agree that McDonald's toys have gone down in quality. WAY down. Like everything else, to be as cheap as possible, so the bigwigs squeeze out every penny of profit they can. Gotta buy that third yacht, you know. 🙄 Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane, Lamont. AWESOME video! PS-I want that Mystery Machine, lol!!

I'm old enough to remember when McDonald's had good toys AND Cracker Jack had good toys. Then they went to stupid tattoos or jokes in every box.

There is a replica OG McDonalds in the KC metro area. It is on Johnson Dr. a few blocks east of I-35 if you should ever be so inclined. I haven't been there for a few years but it is a lunch spot for the area. If you go there, skip the happy meals and go back west on Johnson Dr. and get some taco burgers from Don Chilito's, I miss that occasional treat since we moved further west of KCK to the sticks.

Id love to take off like you and go wherever i want, whenever I want! You have literally crossed the country several times just recently. One minute you are in Florida and the next, California! You must put a lot of miles on your vehicle! Thank you for sharing your life with us my friend and GOD BLESS 🙏❤️✌️
