The Victoria Baths can be considered as one of Manchester's best-loved heritage buildings and in the 2004 BBC TV programme, it was voted Britain's favourite restoration project. Its architecture is magnificent and it has a proud heritage as Manchester's foremost centre for swimming since the start of the 20th century.

It was closed by the city council in 1993 and could easily have been demolished, but a group of local people saved it. It has gone through many stages of renovation over the past couple of decades but it has not been fully restored as a swimming pool. It functions as an arts and cultural venue as well as an architectural tourist attraction. It’s open on certain dates of the year for events such as vintage fairs, concerts, workshops and more.
The original plan was to re-open one of the pools as well as the Turkish baths. But due to the pandemic and other factors, plans had to be changed. Does the building have a future? Watch the video to find out more.
