The joys of a small chassis while doing a conversion. I'm sure Bodie will figure it out. There really isn't any other place to put those essential EV components. It's also a pretty condensed setup. The car is moving under its own power. Now Bodie is putting the icing on the cake.

SUGGESTION: Its probably too late now - But Make The Back Deck Lid Snap-In Snap-Out! No hinges necessary.
@sespider

I like that idea. Just few issues with it. -Wouldn't they have to build a new back deck lid, to make it easy to remove? -Which would lead to color matching issues. -How would they make it secure from being tamper proof?

@@sespider not necessarily - it would depend on the mechanism used to snap in place. A lock installed would be as secure as a door lock I would imagine. :)

No. There's a large energy convertor (or something) in the way. The best would be either hinging on the left or making it a snap in panel.

Bodie, What if you make the entire rear hatch removable instead of hinged ? There is so little useful space inside anyway... You would likely remove hatch for any servicing needed, right ? Sort of like how racers make a pinned, or lift off style removable hood for an intake or blower sticking through the hood and no hinges at all ? It looks better for shows without hatch too imo.
@sespider
Ай бұрын
That Sucks! Why not try mounting it on the side and just turn it into a door? It's no longer a trunk, so you might as well hinge it on the left side. That will still cause a issue for the latch, but you've gotta look at it as which is easier at this point.

There is plenty of room for those guys to re-do that mounting board & drop stuff as low as possible & still have it look awesome & provide/allow the hinges to fit & work, then move on to the actuator & be done with it. Just unbolt the panel, have the guys come over & place the hinges where they go & then have them shuffle around the board until they have a new plan figured out & they go home & set up the new board, refit the parts on it & bolt it back into place & carry on as if it was all planned that way!!!

Different teams. One focuses on the build to keep it looking as stock as possible, while staying safe and fit the new electric system. The other team is just focused on putting the electric system into the design. The question is WHY did the electric team not take into account the already built hinges? It was there. They knew there would be a top hinged door. The development team still looks good in my book. The issue is they are in two completely different locations and not able to over see the choices the other makes. If the electrical system is suppose to be in the front and under the seats, then there is no reason to suspect a part would be placed in the back. From what I've seen, there is plenty of room up front (under the hood) to place the boots components. WHY are they in the boot??
