Residents of Klancing Village, Licin District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, have a unique way of dealing with the problem of waste that often pollutes waterways in their environment.
In the past, the water channel was full of garbage and polluted.
Now the community is starting to realize and provide support with the existence of fish farming in the irrigation canal.
There are several types of fish that are cultivated by the local community. Starting from Tombro fish, Koi carp, Tilapia fish to Pomfret fish.
Currently, the irrigation channel which is used as a place for freshwater fish cultivation is 300 meters long. In the future, it is planned that along the irrigation canal, which reaches 1 kilometer in length, it will be used as a place for fish cultivation.
This sight is a separate entertainment for local residents. Starting from children, teenagers, to adults, they were enthusiastic to see hundreds of jumbo-sized fish swimming freely in the irrigation canal.
They hope that the waterways full of fish can create new tourist destinations in the agriculture and fisheries sector, so as to improve the economic level of the Klancing community. Besides that, it can be an inspiration for other regions to always keep their environment clean.
