Thank you very much for this awesome film. No gear bragging, no stupid GoPro- or drone-shots, no annoying self-display, just beautiful landscape, nice music and your thoughts every now and then. This is how a perfect long-distance hiking film needs to be.

Being a Grandma, and never having ever seen Arizona, this kindness in sorta walking along with ya has been such a delight.. seeing far ,and up close, and especially the stars…I always wondered how beautiful the stars might look in a place like that… so different from our Kentuckyland, thanks to all for letting us out here have the opportunity to see something through your eyes.. I love looking at everything, just like you probably did… Thanks

Thanks for taking us along. As a 60 year resident of Arizona I have been every where you mentioned.Hiked the Grand Canyon many times. Also biked the the state to Mexico. People from around the country that joined us were flabbergasted as they thought the state was flat. Uh, no. It is all uphill and downhill for the most part. Great video. I only wish I was young enough to do it myself. Your video made it come to life. Thanks for sharing your journey.

I'm 19 and from Germany and I lived 2 months at a family friends house in Fountain Hills, AZ. After those 2 months I started a roadtrip alone through Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. The nature of Arizona is just awesome and I love that state. And during that road trip, I felt those everyday challenges too. I locked myself out of my car in Death Valley, my camera broke down in Page, I had to stop in Bishop, CA cause the brakes of my car didn't work anymore! Life is an experience and your documentary is really inspiring and gave me that feel of freedom and excitement for every day back, cause in a routine day work/university and doing sth. always in groups, makes me feel like I'm loosing myself, cause my individuality is kind of blocked. Thank you for this amazing documentary!

You remind me of my son who loves and enjoys nature like you. Thankfully he shares his experiences with us, his mom and dad, and has opened up a new world for us. We have lived in Arizona for six months and thanks to him we have ventured out and seen more than we ever did in 50 years living in the Midwest. Arizona is a beautiful state. It’s close to California and Utah so we can travel there much easier than we ever could living in the Midwest. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. I am forwarding it to my son. Thank you for bringing back so many pleasant memories of Arizona. We agree with you when you say that Arizona is a vastly underrated state. Where else can you see the largest canyon in the world; 14,000 foot peaks, giant lakes and vast deserts and prairies. It was wonderful to see the Boyce Thompson Arboretum again. Along with Kearney, Oracle, Tucson, Mt Lemmon, Patagonia, the San Rafael Valley and a host of other places that you highlighted. What a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Sedona, Tucson, The Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Meteor Crater, Painted Desert, and countless small towns that transports one to a less complicated time. I 100% agree that Arizona is one of the most underrated and misunderstood states in the country. I currently live in Indiana (soon to move to New Mexico in a couple months). My wife and I went on our honeymoon to the southwest a few years ago, and Arizona blew us away! I always knew Arizona was more than just desert, desert, desert, which is the obvious and most prevailing stereotype of the state, but even we were surprised by the diversity. In one day, we went from the literally 119 degree temperature desert of Phoenix to the 75 degree wilderness area of Flagstaff, with everything in between. We loved it! One of the high points of our trip and we can't wait to visit again once we move to New Mexico. Such a beautiful state. So, I agree with you completely.

Thank you for sharing this trip with us. I live part of the year in AZ and, being from NW Indiana, it never ceases to look alien and wonderous to me. When I'm in AZ I see Four Peaks, off in the distance, every day and I often wonder what it is like up in those mountains, how life was for the indigenous people in this challenging and unforgiving environment. Glad you had such a positive experience. Arizona does have some crazy weather sometimes (even snow in the Phoenix area) and the heat can be brutal of course. Top notch video. Really enjoyed the music as well. It went beautifully with the scenery. God bless.

Trevor Arwood the biggest question I have now is what kinds of food did you eat (other than peanut butter)? I'm guessing that with the lack of water sources there are a lot of dry meals. Also did you ever send resupplies to yourself or did you get all your food from stores?
@TrevorArwood
6 жыл бұрын
Noah Decker Yeah, I sent my cook set home and honestly there were only a few cold nights a warm meal would have been nice. I didn't do any resupply boxes and for the most part it wasn't a problem. I liked it because I could pick things I craved and didn't get stuck with something I was tired of. There were only a couple of times the selection was small and expensive. In the least send a box to Tusyan, Superior, and Mormon lake (if you can't get from from Pine to Flagstaff on one resupply, I ran out of food on this stretch). From what I remember everything else had a decent grocery store. Do some research though, some things might have changed since I hiked it. I ate a lot of snack food, chips, trail mix (got very tired of it), bars, candy, beef jerky, baked goods like danishes, cinnamon rolls, etc. For lunch I'd occasionally bring mayo packets, cured meat like summer sausage and a block of cheddar cheese and wrap some of it in a tortilla. A block of cheese will last a surprisingly long time. On hot days just try to keep it deep in your pack. Cold soaking Ramen with freeze dried vegetables (can buy in bulk on Amazon) was one of my favorite meals on the desert sections of the CDT. It's high in sodium and helps replenish what you sweat out. Also if there isn't enough water you can always eat it uncooked.
