Exactly. People mistake this encounter as the stranger making any actual valid points. @@BrBaEdit No, he’ll always find something to hate you for. There are some choices he absolutely agrees with and won’t bring up; there are some choices that take priority over other ones; and he’ll never accept any of Lee’s justifications. But you have to understand: the stranger has nothing left to live for other than hate. It you tell him you’re sorry at the beginning, he’ll say: “I wish that meant something to me, Lee. I’m not a bad man, but this is all I have left.” After his wife and kids died he had absolutely no reason to keep living, but once he found Lee and Clementine: he latched onto hating Lee, even if he did nothing wrong because he needs SOME reason to keep going. He latches onto the idea of “adopting” Clementine because he needs a-well, not a replacement for his family; but someone to replace the position they held in his life. The stranger is a sad, broken man latching onto anything and everything to keep himself going. He’s insane, he’s immoral, but he was a good man once; but everything he lost twisted him into something he never imagined himself becoming. He needs to go, but I can’t help but feel bad for what the group’s done to him and his family.

She should have understood perfectly well, what the consequences would be if she suddenly began to humiliate a paranoid with a pistol, who experiencing a nervous breakdown, but she did it anyway. Out of all the antagonists in twd, the stranger was probably the only one I had sympathy for. I didn’t use the term villain for a reason because unlike just about every villain in the game, he’s not a cannibal, a murderer, or power hungry, he was just a lost soul who lost his family due to unfortunate circumstances and blindly saw clementine as a way to redeem himself. Of course his motives do not justify his actions but I can understand that he meant well and was only doing what he thought was right.and in a way he is the embodiment of even the mixed people having a breaking point, especially in a world like the walking dead
@StaxRiley

He's actually worse than most antagonists in the series. The St. Johns turned to cannibalism because they felt it was necessary to survive. Carver was a tyrant because he thought it was necessary to protect his own group and maintain order. As brutal as their methods were, they were driven by a certain kind of logic. The Stranger is irrational and unable to accept responsibility for his own mistakes. He harms others with no greater long term goal than pure spitefulness and avenging his own pain. And whether he meant well or not is irrelevant. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and your actions or inactions are what define you.

2:26 This is absolutely hilarious for me to hear. I save Carley in my playthroughs and he says "You let an innocent boy get pulled out of a window by those things just so you could save a pretty girl with a gun" or something like that instead. It's like he gets pissed at you no matter what you do or how nice you are to everyone. If Lee is an absolute saint through and through, the stranger only mentions like 2 things and they're hilariously trivial and he has no real reason to hate Lee. He only keeps giving him shit no matter what because the plot needs it to happen and it's so forced. So lazy. This is why I'm not really shedding any tears for Telltale being shut down tbh

And what is this scene even for? The stranger serves nothing to the plot and he butchers the conflict. But you're being too harsh on Telltale. We wouldn't have this awesome game if it weren't for him

@@isaywhateveriwantandyougot7421 Yeah...I'm realising how messed up the last part of my comment is. I still think Telltale just shouldn't had been the people to make this series. Like the writing is pretty solid (besides this forced drama with the stranger) but they just straight up lie to your face about the game being molded by the way you play. If they had just worried about the story and the characters and left the actual development to maybe some other game developers, I think it might have turned out better. You know what I really wish for now that the series is done? I wish someone would come along and reboot the entire series MW2019 style with heavy/direct inspiration from Player's Choice games like Until Dawn and Detroit: Become Human. That would be EPIC!

@@zombified_pariah7720 I have never played Until Dawn or Detroit. But yeah, I get your point. It's surprising how great the game is when you realize it was made by this mediocre studio. And besides this being possibly my favorite story in any piece of media, a video game can ALWAYS be better. There are definitely parts of this game that I hate but in the end, it doesn't even matter, the stuff that's great is unbelievable and it's a game that lasts 10 hours, there is bound to be bad stuff

@@TheWatcher328 Depends, if you actually make horrible choices such as leaving Ben behind or stealing from him, then he's completely right and has every reason to be angry at you. But the problem with this scene is how he gets mad at Lee even if you were a saint throughout the whole season and did nothing that could be considered evil. Feels pretty cheap to be blamed for nothing, bad writing from Telltale right there.

@@TheWatcher328 That’s kind of the point. The stranger isn’t mentally stable, he lost everything and now he sees Clementine as his second chance. Like Lee did. @@gumussevi Cool story: I found my first save file of season one and some of the data got corrupted so my last saved checkpoint was “the gauntlet”. So I reloaded the save and played through the ending of my original file with my new perspective on the story and agreed with a lot of the condemnations the stranger sent my way. Especially dropping Ben and failing to stop Clementine from eating Mark’s leg. It was an extremely unique experience; judging my past self and hating the things I’d done.

Instead of seeking for revenge and bringing so much pain to Lee's group and himself, he could have tried a more friendly approach, idk like all this speech of his could have been made anywhere anytime face to face since he stalked them. There by making us feel more or less guilty (most of his accusations are still dumb), the group could have helped him, tried to atone themself to him but no, he KIDnapped a lil' girl by lying to her about her parents. Some may feel pity or guilt but I feel nothing else than disgust toward this guy.

I think that's the tragedy of his character. While I pity him... I pity him in the way I think of him as a sad, pathetic excuse in the end. To me it's clear he just wants to project his own faults on to Lee. To do otherwise would mean he admits he's messed up in the head.

Now I still save Duck, smash Larry’s head in because he was dead anyway, don’t take the supplies, keep the arm and leave Lee to turn.
