I really enjoy this song, a great song where obvious Grateful Dead and Velvet Underground influences are heard.

I tend to prefer the nine minute version of this song from the remastered, Anthem Of The Sun album.

Same guy who was singing. Ron “Pigpen” McKernon, who was actually the original frontman of the band.

This before the song became all about Phil. Still sounded great! But I prefer the later versions where Phil rocked it.

Michael Fishman without pigpen the dead would have just faded into time and lost to time just alot bands pigpen was the blues driving force behind the grateful dead when they started out

As I started listening to this, my first thought was how important Pig was to the band early on, and how locked in with Billy.. I got On the Bus in '86ish.. I really should go back to the start... (~):}

Like an American Them...love that early RB blues feel much like Paul Butterfield..must of been odd to have that folk rock R/B thing but possibly not...right there with all the other trad musicians.
