Phil's voice to me is as iconic as jerry's. I don't like the side projects as much without Phil. Dead & co NEEDS lesh.

I started listening to the Grateful Dead about the time Live Dead came out, and something I've always struggled with, was imprinting on multi-song series the first way I heard them, and then hearing one song without the others ("St. Stephen without Dark Star or The Eleven? InconCEIVABLE!!!"). But the Dead seem to have been WAY less tied to what song trailed into what song than I was. ("I Know You Rider without China Cat Sunflower? InconCEIVABLE!!!" - hey, even School of Rock knows those two go together ... kzitem.info/news/bejne/qZCX1naNrJaZeno) 😎

It’s not as good as the Vintage Dead version from about a year later. Pigpen’s keyboard was much more in evidence and it had more verses including ‘I’d drink muddy water’ etc.

This to me is true "soul music" these cats are playing from the heart and soul of their true passion and love of what they do and create. Before the politics and money and all that other shit that comes with growing up and having to produce for your existence. Just some youngens doing what they love and making the rest of the world feel the beauty of creating something great from within. love to all , thanks for reading !!! Collins Hill

This is better than a lot of Dead IMO. When the young are hungry and ambitious they put everything they have into it like their lives depend on it.

I have every single dead song that they have ever done. I used to have an in every every different variation I have tens of thousands of hours of live. Grateful Dead are used to have warlocks in the 80s. I only had three hours of live dead on cassette tape, and I lost it during a move, and I never thought that they would come where I could watch every concert I’ve been to live, couldn’t be happier right now

I love that Phil was actually the original singer for the dead, kinda lol. Every period in their massive body of work had something that was pretty fukin groovy, and often with sick jams.

I grew up listening to the Dead (been listening on purpose for like 20 years) and I was trying to find the earliest instance of the Headlight verse (9/16/66 Avalon Ballroom I think). I've never gotten the chance to listen to The Warlocks, so I've never heard this before. I am not disappointed at all and I love the unique vocal harmony that seems to be lost in the Dead era
