"Pop dressed as rock" can be said about a whole lot of bands that are today considered classics of hard rock and even precursors of metal. Richie Blackmore is an unapologetic fan of Abba and has been since the 70ies - and you can hear it in his most famous compositions, even before mainstream Rainbow. It was no outlier that Smoke on the water was a chart topper. This kind of music back then was pop. That artificial border between pop and rock isn't really helpful. What is considered pop has changed massively over the last 70 years, whatever genre was the mode of the day. Rock has survived because - unlike for instance Disco or Drum'n'Bass - it could change and adapt due its musical openness. Pop is not a genre, pop is a bracket including what is popular at the moment, an expression of the zeitgeist. Sinatra once was pop, then elvis came along, the Beatles, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, Abba, Bee Gees, The Cure, Nirvana and Pearl Jam etc. Very different styles of music, and their popularity was what made them pop for a moment. Having said that I agree with almost everything you said about the album. I would rather give it 9/10 than 8, but 8 is completely inside the realm of legit scores for this banger of a record.

I’m an old metal and hard & prog rock musician, Fact: The Warning and Band Maid are hard rock bands not metal. Truth: they have never claimed to be metal, some misguided fans have stated such leading to some confused for reactors giving mixed reviews, but not the groups themselves. I love The Warning and Band Maid and don’t give two craps about labels. A good well written song is a good song regardless of some a-hole critics self entitled opinion. In the 50 years I’ve been playing I’ve had to put up with all the shredder clap trap I can bare, the parts are not greater than the whole. The pop bits here and there with either band have never been allowed to consume the song and ruin it for me, it is their art and as long as it’s their decision to sound a particular way so be it, this old bastard, for what it’s worth is with both groups a 100%. The stogy old time rockers and metalheads had hammered the life out of the genre for decades, these ladies will pick up the torch and light the way for a new generation of rock fans, leading them away from the slime that’s inundated the airwaves for the last 20 years. Rock was not dead, just waiting to be awakened by the sonic kiss of these ladies. Rock Hard, Rock Heavy.

It is necessary to clarify something that causes a lot of confusion and that is TW's genre. Their first 2 albums are classic rock and ERROR and KMF are ALTERNATIVE ROCK. THEY ARE NOT METAL AND THEY ARE NOT HARD ROCK. They have a lot of hard rock influences in some songs like QOMS but overall their current genre is ALTERNATIVE ROCK very different from hard rock. Band Maid does fall into the hard rock category. I can see that many TW fans especially older ones don't know much about the alternative rock genre which is a softer side of rock. In this alternative rock genre are bands like Muse, Placebo, Royal Blood, Death Poet Society, Block Party, Artic Monkeys, Evanescence, Radiohead, The Strokes, current Paramore, etc, etc, etc. When you watch interviews with the girls, they always name some of these bands as their main influence and the music they like to listen to the most. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO CLASSIC ROCK, THEY DON'T LISTEN TO HARD ROCK, THEY DON'T LIKE METAL. The heaviest they like is Bring me The Horizon. They are totally pop heads, love pop music, and often listen to MORE POP THAN ROCK. Pau who is the main writer nowadays is more into listening to pop than rock. You can see on her instagram that the music she listens to is people like Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, new pop divas like Chappel Ronan, poprock bands like Maneskin. The artists Dany listens to the most nowadays are Billie Ellish and Willow, 2 pop artists who like to experiment. Ale is the one who listens to kpop the most, like boybands like TXT or girlbands like Twice. In Mexico they have been seen attending kpop and Taylor Swift concerts.

A musician tends to create music inspired by what he likes and what he hears. In this case TW listens and loves 2 things: ALTERNATIVE ROCK AND POP. And that's what their music is based on. His music has always had a strong pop base. In fact most of his songs are pure pop rock like Survive, 23, Choke, Que más quieres, etc, etc, etc, etc. In general they are a band that has always been on the side of Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Credd rather than the harder side of the genre. The problem is that many fans expect and expected them to be something they are not. I see a lot of disappointment that they are now "pop" when they have always had strong pop influences and have always created very commercial alternative rock, plus they love pop music. A lot of fans when they met them as kids expected them to become a heavy band or the new Black Sabbath or something. But as they've grown up they've shown their real tastes and what they enjoy that has nothing to do with the covers they did as kids, which were songs given to them by their teachers and not because they listened to them. It's strange to see metal people doing reactions to their music expecting something heavy and original when TW is not that. At this point there begins to be a disconnect from a certain sector of their audience that is not familiar with alternative rock. KMF is identical to the sound of bands like Royal Blood or Death Poet Society even with nu metal influences and the pop base that has always accompanied them which is far from the hard rock and classic 70s rock that many fans have come to expect. This is the sound you hear in their playlist and this is what they have created.
@Itzzy515

Don't be surprised if in the future the band continues to veer towards an even more pop side in the style of Imagine Dragons or Maneskin who are rock influenced bands but are essentially pop bands. That's what they listen to and what they like. They are not going to do metal or progressive rock on the next albums as many fans expect. Regarding the lyrics, they have said that they want to stop trying to be serious and always talk about deep things but just have fun. Rock is also fun like Limp Bizkit or Blink 182. A lot of heavy people are obsessed with everything being deep and the TW generation Z is not interested in depth but fun. This new album is aimed at a more younger audience, that they want and need to captivate, the audience that has seen Royal Blood and Maneskin born and raised, ……..not the "daddy rock" audience.... as the girls said....of Rush or Gun's and Roses. This is the real TW..... new and old fans will have to decide whether to continue or go.....not wait for things to change because it's not going to happen. Whoever is looking for a heavy, metal, experimental side will not find it here and can start looking for thousands of good new bands on the internet that are on those sides. For example, the Japanese scene right now is fantastic. TW can go their way in what they like......... it's not the producers, it's not the labels......it's them and the music they like to create; SIMPLY ALTERNATIVE ROCK MAINSTREAM and they are good at that.

That was exactly the purpose of the album, a mix of various rock/metal styles wrapped in something more accessible to the masses and new generations, someone will identify with some songs more than others but in general I think it is a cohesive album that maintains the energy and manages to stand out among the recent proposals from bands of their level, they are definitely a "warning" that something good is coming for the genre at a mainstream level!

I got mixed feelings after KMF. For me in some way it may be Their the weakest album. I mean: it seems the best tracks (except "Six Feet Deep") were published before premiere day. Rest of them are just not as much good (especially lyrics). Or at least I don`t get that vibe. Maybe I need to spend more time with some of those songs, definetely I need to listen to live version, but if past three albums were 9,5-10/10 this one is 7/10. However: I think most of bands would sign pact with devil for such "weak" album. There are six bangers and one absolute monster ("Automatic Sun"). I would buy this album just for "AS", but I believe They can do better.

I politely disagree. This topic and it's discussion is exactly what 'Six Feet Deep' is about. It's their dream and they worked hard to earn the right to live it. They said KMF is the music that they wanted to create at this point and since they are huge fans of Muse, that's understandable. They saw that opportunity and they took it. It's what DPA wanted to create and doing that is the opposite of selling out. It's just not the music some people want to hear. But that's just the studio versions of KMF. Being a 70's child, I like music served raw and grounded. And that's what Six Feet Deep live sounded like. It's stll good Rock. Other groups varied their sound and music over the years as well. Early 70's QUEEN's music was stylistically completely different from their late 70s marerial and it changed again mid 80s. Good musicians will evolve over time and I expect the sisters to do just that again in the near future.

It seems to me that with The Warning's songs you need to listen to them more than once to better appreciate what they seek to convey both lyrically and musically. At the beginning, for a first listen, the rating 8/10 seems fair to me for a studio work and reflects a bit of those times with which they had to comply, especially in production, More is the best example and that is why it is even the live version which was accepted by the public as a good song. The songs that they had released until the presentation of the album (More, Sick, HYCAD, Q+Q, Automatic Sun, Burnout) in my opinion, present meanings beyond the first impression that they can give us on a first listen and with musical details not so exposed but subtle. The same thing happens with Six Feet Deep after its presentation. In this, I think, they looked for in the available time they had to write and record, that the songs met certain objectives pre-established by them for this album and I notice: - radio friendly for a short duration, with catchy lyrics and easy to digest musically, not because the songs lack musical content but rather easy to identify at the beginning of the song (listening characteristics of the generation to which they were born) - that reflect their evolution from young girls to women (so that their initial audience does not remain anchored with an image of something that they no longer are) - include sounds from what they currently listen to and that influence how they develop their music, choosing producers accordingly (Dan Lancaster who has worked with Muse and Bring me the Horizon, and Anton deLost who has worked with Dead Poet Society) the same way they worked with David Bendeth for having been a producer on Paramore - fulfill a theme as they did in their previous albums: the first (XXICB) the reaction/vision of a young man in the face of what he perceives as social injustice/danger, the second (QOTMS) a rock novel of a person descending into madness mental due to loving obsession, the third (Error) of how their generation -Z- perceive the world/society, their behavior and the dangers we may face. In the case of KMF, interpersonal relationships with negative aspects that are applicable to more than one case/situation. The members of TW have shown that they know where they want to go and how they seek to achieve it (7 months of negotiations with LAVA Records prove this), they are clear about what they are going to give in and the deadlines with which they work. Although what we see about them is that they are relaxed, passionate about music and authentic, we must also remember that they are more than that, they are very intelligent, disciplined and demanding in their work.

They’re also playing 1 or 2 less songs per show on their smaller venue shows (17 songs was standard, now 15-16 was standard on the last leg in Europe) to mitigate that Pau may not be singing lead on a couple of songs as they promote KMF. I’m sure Pau will still sing lead on a couple of songs when they do their higher production shows. I don’t really see Dany’s workload increasing significantly going forwards. She actually plays less guitar on KMF so that’s gonna factor in as well. It seems to me that they’ve intentionally included somewhat more significant parts in the newer songs where’s the bass and drums are carrying the song so Dany has more time to take the mic off the stand and do crowd work instead of always being glued to her pedalboard.

I came to The Warning late a little over a year ago, by hearing Error. I was taken by the clever songwriting and lyrics. Songs like Disciple and Error, for examples, are about something universal and well written. For this album it feels like a lot more personal and thus the topics seem samey. I honestly think what holds it back is writing with people outside of the band. Yes, I know they wanted to but I think they write stronger songs, overall, when they write them themselves. That said, it’s good album and has some strong songs, like Sharks, for example. I just don’t think there’s anything on here I like more than songs like Disciple and Evolve. I think you've nailed this review. The lack of raw emotion and "goosebump" moments is precisely how I feel too. Although I wouldn't described the sound as "poppy", I think I do get what you mean - probably "commercial" would be a more apppropriate word. I discovered The Warning early 2023 and bought all their albums at once and then listened to each in chronological order. "Error" stood out by far and it is not an exaggeration to say that it has been in my car's CD player almost constantly ever since - I just never tire of it. Every single track is brilliant and there is nothing that feels like filler. At the end of the day, it's all subjective, but in my opinion, I think that the evident influence of Dan Lancaster is what has sucked the life out of Keep Me Fed as a whole. It all just feels like it's trying to sound like Muse rather than sound like The Warning. The individuality and openness of all three previous albums is mostly lacking here. There are some very strong tracks on it (Hell You Call a Dream and Automatic Sun being two of my all-tiome favourite The Warning songs), but I do feel that there's a very good reason why the songs that were released first were chosen - they are the strongest tracks. With, perhaps, the exception of "Sharks", the rest are - dare I say it - a bit dull. I have consistently gone back to the bands first three albums, "Error" being the clear stand-out album for me. But I haven't bothered to give "Keep Me Fed" a second listen yet, I just haven't felt motivated to do so. Again, it's all subjective and there are people who love it, which is great. But I agree wholeheartedly with the review - there's something missing this time around. It just feels diluted.

The thing is that I saw them perform quite a few of these songs live in April and it was like day and night because there they inject that rawness and emotion that I feel this album falls short on. I think it is good for what it is and gave it 8 out of 10 which I think is pretty fair but for those songs I would take the live version every day. Thanks for watching and ps. commercial is a good way to phrase it.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. To have a career in music, a band must sell records to new listeners. What moves records from first listen to pulling out one's wallet are simple, melodic vocal and instrumental hooks. If we strip away the instrumental background from Beethoven to Glenn Miller to Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple to Jeff Beck, there's always a hook or two to catch new listeners. All catchy music is "pop" in its day. The Warning are no different. A friend of mine said of Band-Maid, "I can't remember any of their songs". Whether anybody agrees with him or not, the point is that he is not caught by them. Although he's a shredding guitar fan, he does remember a couple of The Warning songs. Although he won't attend a Warning show, they are on his radar. After a new listener engages with a band, they may explore more of the material. Then, the hook is set.

If I compare KMF to the material in prior recordings, I find it less interesting, simpler, more formulaic. The new material is as catchy as anything they've written before, but it's constrained into 3 minute/get to the hook/repeat the chorus over and over/no guitar solo/no extended instrumental sections, type of tunes. Lyrically, it's all style over substance. I prefer the freedom in prior records that allowed their music to really feel singular, rather than mass produced.

It's a fair review. I also think maybe a little of the magic they have on their own was watered down. However, I think that they may have allowed this to be a little more commercial friendly. The problem with some of the songs also is that they hype you up until they get to the bridge part of the song and you think that they are going to hit you some kind of heavy breakdown and instead they go with another chorus. There are a lot of people projecting what they want The Warning to be and judging them on that rather than accepting them for who they are. When the subject genre comes up they say they're a rock band or a hard rock band. And even then it's clear they're just not interested in that question. And why should they be. I see no need to restrict their growth to old ideas of what a rock band should be. So far as their music is concerned, it's always been a mix of pop and rock right from that start. I don't understand why people are confused, surprised or disappointed there are pop elements to the bands music. Their range is what makes them interesting. You never know which way a song is going to go until you listen to it.

Applause on your review. I feel exactly the same. Its great album I will buy. I think this is the album they produced with their L.A. producers. So I think those people have had an affect on the sisters to take them toward pop. This seems so obvious that I have to believe they themselves notice the change. But I think they may be doing it to get to a wider audience than head bangers like you and me. They are in their early twenties and are experimenting with their music to see what suits them. I hope the record company weasels (RCW) don't push 100% in the pop direction and come back pointed in the hard rock metalesque direction. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

I think they are being overworked and have pressure on them from the record label to deliver material and tour and do lots of public appearances. While it is living the dream, at some point there is going to be changes driven by the need for profit from all parties involved. This is a good album that is produced for a bigger audience. Pop elements in their songs?, or course they have been transparent about their music preferences from classic, rock, metal, pop, progressive, ballads, etc. even dancing music (as a good Mexicans they love to dance). No limits for them and no one has limited their creative activity. Quantify the music has none sense, for you it is 8, for others it is 1 and probably for a teenager this album will change the life forever.

Old rocker here. imo, KMF shows how much they have advanced in their art. .. BUT, (even though it is a must have/listen to album for me) it seems overly commercial, rather than the more raw rock sound of previous releases. Guess they will throw me 6 ft deep with other critics. But I do understand that this album needed to be more commercial to expand their audience and that it is probably better live. Even Muse and other greats have whole albums that I totally dislike.. .. it is better to experiment and do different things than to be stale and play different variations of the same ole same ole. And when they become an established big venue band, they will have a massive catalogue to create their playlists from (and even modify/extend tracks)

From a theoretical approach, metal is nothing but rock with an emphasis on the guitar being a valid lead instrument in contest with the vocals. Rock however is nothing but pop with an emphasis on guitar driven music an 4/4 rhythms. So all metal is rock and all rock is pop. All bands and artists use the same twelve notes and the same harmonical movements to make their music pleasing to the ear. The only thing is, how it is wrapped up. So from my point of view, all metal is pop in disguise. Don't believe me? Fair review. Their streak of "no bad songs" is still alive in my book. Not every song is 10/10 but I don't hear any filler or throwaway songs. I wasn't crazy about a couple of them on first listen, like MORE and Burnout, but once I heard them live, it changed my opinion of both. I like that they're mixing in more metal bits, but still staying firmly in their own genre with the catchy riffs, choruses, and stadium-ready rock. The new modern direction is a smart move for their career, IMO.

I think one of the things that Keep Me Fed gives us is a 2-for1 deal - we get the studio versions of the songs which seems suited for radio play in 2024, and then we get the live concert versions that have the raw rock energy. I haven't been thrilled with some of the processing and filters used for the studio version but that's the sound The Warning was playing with for this album from what I can tell. This album should be viewed as a snapshot in time of how The Warning was feeling during its creation, and they did get to work with a lot of other people which can only add to their skills and creativity. And, to my ears & music tastes, The Warning is hard rock, not metal nor alt rock nor pop (one reference point: The Warning is only on SiriusXM's Octane, never hear them on Alt Nation).

Many good points by everybody. I think the point about studio v/s live is not new. Ale' said in an interview that they tried to make their studio albums sound like their live shows and so I think this has been on the agenda all along. However most of us picked up on this band after they had been already playing for 5 to 10 years and had worked through their early learning curve. Just as they have grown through their pre-teen to teen and then to the now still very young adult years they are still in a learning curve and make no secret of that. They are experimenting constantly and I don't see them settling into a mature honed "style" for another 5 to 10 years. Historically fans have usually seen a performer or band come on the scene when they have developed a marketable style and a label picks them up. Social media has given an enormous amount of exposure to this band from the time they were little children and I think that makes them vulnerable to observers who see them through already filtered eyes and interpret any evolution or experimentation with style as a short fall. In reality they have always been experimenting and just like when they went to Berklee and "learned" about stage presence, co-writing gives them a chance to learn more. The average professional (such as their mother) that we look to for medicine, law, education, etc...has spent upwards of 10 to 15 years learning and practising and honing their craft. In this way DPA are just about right on schedule. We might say, to use the professional labels, they are now in the articleing or internship or practicum stage of their career development. A lot of their effort, to this point, has been to show us what they can do copying others and working out the problems. Of late they have focused on showing us what they have become and now they are trying out ways to test what they can do with that. I think Jason Flom, and others, were correct in saying The Warning is "...the future of rock and roll". We just have to give it time to see what the future turns out to be otherwise we are just stuck living in the past and wanting them to stay there with us. Take Care - worth subscribing for. David

They wrotten and recorded this album out of TW Cave where ADP wrote and arranged the songs of the 3 great previous albuns. So when in studio the producers/enginner has the task to extracts the best of the songs. To KMF the songs were wrote with the producers in the studios and recorded immediately. So there was not a pre defined style of how the songs could be. So a mix of ideas were glown together. But in general the album is heavy and has a modern vibe…A Masterpiece no doubt! I am an old brasilian 65 fan and fan/patron since 2017. But I think sometimes in some songs the production is a little harsh…but mostly sounds strong. All 12 songs could be hits and some choruses are soooo powerfull!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️💃💃💃🙌🏻🎼🇧🇷😀

As musician/drummer that is the same age as they are. I will set the record straight i think the band is one of the tightest 3 pieces for generation Z. i listen to their who discography between Escape from The Mind- K.M.F. which that's already 5 albums altogether if you don't Mayday. However, K.M.F. I've ranked it a 7/10. their top three albums to me are Q.O.T.M.S. 9.7/10 Pau's best drumming and wrote the album nearly completely by herself. Error 9.7/10 tie best musicianship, however, could be David Bendeths last album that he may do? XX1 century blood 8.8/10 like a lot of Dani's hard rock solos on here. the only bad album is the first release with E.F.T.M that is a 6/10 just figuring out the basics. Now my main issue with keep me fed is that besides Dan Lancasters and Anton Delosts production i will give them a 10/10 out of. I think Pau's playing is too much on top of the beat which is fine since i think she has perfect timing. She's an award-winning drummer which she deserves. I think what needed to happen is that since slick production since her 10 and 12 toms are pitch too normal high tuning. The mixing I think drowns it out. And also, maybe an idea for a slick production maybe it would by cool if she would add some roto toms or Octobans in the near future along with maybe a China cymbal with rivets, and if Shes really going for all out a second kick drum. I think Dani's guitar ability slowing became a little lacking even with the last two albums with producers helping reeled in her parts since most of songs are in E standard tuning, She's not a bad guitarist or a vocalist either. I think she outshines some of her male dominate counterparts that play lead and sing lead. However, Ale's bass parts are heavy that hold the band together. I think she should get an award for putting up with her older sisters as some of their skills decline. I think live the songs are better although sharks i which Pau would play the prelude part on a Roland sample pad instead of using a computer backing track. But my top three tracks are Sharks, Automatic Sun, and Satisfied, Since there a few splash hits in the verses for color. And again, i like the production though 😁. The worst criticism is the writing. I like the concept of the idea of writing differently. Now i will accept some outside writers. but when look at the writing credits there's a dozen different writers on there. i will accept one or two because of having a better them. With most of the songs completed while on tour. Since Lave and Republic records signed them a major label company just look the rest of this decade their suppose have an album out every other June until their contract is done or if they restructure it, if so i think they need to take more time in writing to get that raw feel, then this album. Unfortunately, it was just announced that Lava/Republic is going to take the promotional side of selling their records. But only Error and Keep Me Fed. So Q.O.T.M.S. XX1 C.B. and E.F.T.M will no longer be in print for English and other languages for CD or Vinyl. good luck finding it those recording if they don't start off on ebay for 400 dollars. Also, the band stated that starting to retire their independent stuff which I'm disappointed about. I understand why for fans that were supported of since their viral video of enter sandman, I've been fan of them since April of this year and my favorite stuff is their independent stuff. Since with age the songs get better. However, i understand why they want to retire the independent albums since they were Technolgy teens and kids when they did those. i think they want a Broder audience and to be grown up and mature looking too. But my Opinion is that Error is still their best album so far on their label with Lava/ Republic. Hopefully their next album i hope they could Andrew Watt as a producer. Or i will bullcrap for a minute because i am getting into producing production/audio engineering for maybe looking at me as one. But however, the industry needs to have someone to a skill what they needed which my guess is that since it's more of a pop overtone album. I think the next album would be something of production such as how Beck does some of his albums. But hey it's all about promoting the band at the end of the day. And the label, publicist(s) and they get say what's good or not. And make past the deadline too. I still think they're a really hard-working band for gen Z so far. i wish they came in Boise Idaho were i live though.

If I had any criticism of it thus far it would be that it sounds over-produced, and that may be because their first two albums were all just them. With over-produced albums the songs have a tendency to sound the same. Fortunately, The Warning sounds so much better live than in the studio that I have no hesitations about seeing them live again.

A great review and I agree.... for me they are more a rock than a metal band and I like it. One of the things I enjoy about their music is that it is really well-made music. In the music that is produced today you do not feel the effort of musicians to make complex musical arrangements, but that is not the case of this trio of excellent musicians, when you carefully study their music you can notice the quality of each one. That is something that I really love of them.

I really agree with what was said, the album is well produced, but the songs are a bit pop, honestly the songs on this new album don't come close to the songs on the "queen of the murder scene" album. One thing that Dany did in practically every song on this album is to start with a riff, stop playing and sing with just the bass and drums accompanying him, I don't know about you, but that gives me a hard time, this lower tuning didn't please me either. very, automatic sun is a very good song, but the guitar is so low that the sound barely propagates, it dies quickly after the note is played, plus for me it lacks more dynamic riffs like some found on the 2nd album and the songs really don't They captivate me like that, .... but that's just my opinion and feeling

I KNOW FOR A FACT (no, I don't) that The Warning got tired of seeing their audiences (especially in the good ol' USA) were mostly old dudes (like me} and deliberately changed their music to appeal to the young so the greybeards would give up and just go away, Younger audiences are just more fun and easier on the eyes, so why not?. This is the ONLY reason they changed their music (no, it isn't, at all). Fact! (false) 😏

In my opinion, they are far away from being a metal band, and with some songs like the ones in their last album they are loosing their rock flavour. As a proof of that is they are always being asked to play songs with that rock sound: ugh, Dust to Dust, dull knives, queen of the murder scene, Z, error, discipline, martirio, etc. Keep me feed is their worst album ever if you like the rock sound, and their best album if you like the pop sound. As a metal fun I'm dissapointed with this new sound, and I think they will become a mere pop band within the pop landscape with works as this last one.

It`s a really good record but the variety is missing. One longer more epic song would have been cool at the End plus maybe a ballad and a acoustic song in the middle of the tracklist. So I feel all the songs are too short. Maybe its done for the radio but if you have that on all 12 Songs it`s not so good. Like you said they could do better. And btw all the songs sound better live so that says something about their talent as a band.

THE WARNING AND THE RESURRECTION OF ROCK Since it's birth in the 1940's at the end of the second world war before it had a name a name that caught on like wild fire across the American landscape ROCK AND ROLL was called by many names, names like Ni**er music and Black music mainly because it was derived from the Blues, Swing and to some extent Jazz. The name Rock and Roll has been around even before Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed, who introduced the phrase “rock ’n’ roll” on mainstream radio in the early 1950s. The name derives from the more literal "rocking and rolling", a phrase used by 17th-century sailors to describe the motion of a ship on the sea. Any phrase that is used to suggest rhythmic movement of this sort - particularly by lonely seamen - runs the risk of being purloined as an euphemism. By the 1920s, the phrase had become a popular metaphor for dancing or sex, and Trixie Smith's 1922 blues ballad, “My Man Rocks Me (With One Steady Roll)” may be the first use of the phrase in song. When Alan Freed coined this phrase to describe what this new mixture of Blues, Swing, Jazz with a little Black Gospel the name seemed to fit. Especially when Elvis Aaron Presley came on the scene in 1954. Elvis was the driving force behind the popularization of rock and roll which propelled the careers of others like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jiles Perry "J.P." Richardson Jr. aka The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, Richard Valens and other music legedns of Rock and Roll. By the 1960's and after the plane crashed that killed The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Richard Valens fans and the press had declared that music dies in that plane crash. For a few years it seemed this was true, sure there were acts around, but none had the impact as The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Richard Valens did. But then in 1964 four young lads from Liverpool, England by the names of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr collectively know as the Beatles invaded America and acquired the nickname "the Fab Four". The Beatles was the shot in the arm Rock and Roll needed at the time and these young men it seemed to inspire other young men to follow in their footsteps. Soon after the ariva; of the Fab Four other British pop and rock groups such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Zombies, Small Faces, The Dave Clark Five, The Spencer Davis Group, Herman's Hermits, The Hollies, The Animals, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Searchers, The Yardbirds, Them, and Manfred Mann, as well as solo singers such as Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black, Petula Clark, Tom Jones, and Donovan. Those these band produced some great songs none of them had the impact as The Beatles had on both the music scene and teen culture. In their heyday The Beatles have had the most number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 20 songs, a record they've held since 1965. But as they say all good things must end and by the end of 1970 The Beatles reign had ended and a new era had dawn with the birth of Hard Rock, Glam Rock, Country Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk and Disco. Though some notable act that came to the forefront like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cream, Blind Faith, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Queen, Alice Cooper and Kiss. These band were exceptional, but their impact on both the music scene and teen culture was not on par with what The Beatles had done. Though some of these bands did carry on into the 1980's and made some good music they still did make a significant impact. Because they had to now contend with bands like Blondie, The Ramones, The Police, Bon Jovi, Warrant, Motley Crew, Poison, Gun & Roses and other bands. None of the bands that came in the 1980's had the impact that the FAB FOUR had had. By the 1990's it had seemed that once again Rock and Roll was fading into obscurity. Sure some of these acts survived in the 1990's but the music scene was not taken over by Hip Hop and Rap acts. It had seemed that Rock as Rock & Roll had become know as was never gonna recover. Then in 2002 American Idol came along and started to get people inspired to be singers professionally. Then in 2010 The Voice of Holland, also known by its acronym TVOH, Dutch reality TV singing competition. A year later The Voice premiered on NBC on April 26, 2011. Now you could go on reality TV in hopes of becoming an over night sensation. Some of the singers did like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jenifer Hudson, Javier Colon, Jermaine Paul, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Tessanne Chin, Josh Kaufman, Craig Wayne Boyd, Sawyer Fredericks, Jordan Smith, Alisan Porter, Sundance Head and Chris Blue. None of these artist had an impact as The Beatles had on both the music scene and teen culture. Taylor Swift has had some significate impact on both music scene and teen culture she has not made the impact The Beatles did. Now this is not a jab at Taylor or any of the artistes and bands I have mentioned. All I am doing is evaluating their impact on music scene and teen culture. I am sure the millions of Swifties would disagree with my evaluation, but they need to think about this has Taylor Swift made such an impact that causes young girls to go out and form bands? The answer is no and that is what The Beatles did they inspired others to create a band. In 2013 the Villarreal Vélez sisters: Daniela (guitar, lead and backing vocals, piano), Paulina (drums, lead and backing vocals, piano), and Alejandra (bass guitar, backing vocals, piano) formed rock band in Monterrey, Mexico. They gained recognition from their "Enter Sandman" video they made for family so their grandparents could see them play. The video was uploaded to KZitem which went viral. In April 2015, the band appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. During this period the sisters raised funds, including a donation from DeGeneres and the Target Corporation, to attend a five-week training program at Berklee College of Music in the United States. They also gave two presentations at the TEDx conference at the University of Nevada in 2016 and 2017. The band was known for practicing with the Rock Band video game series early in their history; designers returned the favor by including several songs by The Warning in the 2018 edition of the series. Those that have been following these young ladies since 2013 have watched these girls grow into very beautiful young women. Unlike other artists their fans treat these young women like family and not like other fans treat the bands and artists they follow. This because we have watched them grow up before our eyes. The Warning has many more years ahead of them and the music that will flow from these women will be amazing.

Yes, they have always been better live than in the studio. It doesn’t help that this latest producer has done less than stellar work before teaming up with TW. Honestly, no I do not care for this latest album. The songs are not as good, deep or impactful as previous songs. Their previous works had a weight to them, both lyrically and musically that is missing in Keep Me Fed. For my taste, it does not help that they put effects on the vocals, and tuned down and fuzzed up the guitars. I have never liked metal core, so this new direction is not to my taste. I am glad the band is continuing to grow in popularity. The girls have earned the things that are coming their way.

The good thing about The Warning, is that they are fluid in their song writing, so I fully expect their next album to sound different from this one. Each one of their albums is a bit different. The band has said that they made a conscious effort to make a lighter album. One that had a funner feel. They succeeded in doing that with Keep Me Fed.
