Welcome to today's edition of The Way It Was, featuring Burlington Northern as it was during the merger era. BN was still a fledgling railroad, and had many locomotives and freight cars still in their predecessor schemes. Many older and/or unreliable makes such as Baldwin switchers, EMD FT's, EMD SC's and NC's, ALCo FA-1's and 2's and more were being retired, with newer models such as the F45, SW1500, U33C and SD45 replacing them.

In agreement with COPPA regulations, my videos are directed towards a 13+ audience. Trains are not just for kids, and anyone who thinks that is a bigger failure than Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton.
