Franny was punished for giving a damn. She wasn't trying to be some boogie woman with no filter. She knew what worked and what didn't in the kitchen. She was a professional. She was absolutely right. She was among professionals.

She was a nasty, spiteful woman. Her humiliation of Gwen Troake was unnecessary. Benny Hill's impersonation of Cradock was bang on the money.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is such an arse. Seafood cocktail, duckling in blackberry sauce and coffee cream pudding (Gwen Troake's planned menu) is not "lovely," and Fanny was quite right in calling it overly rich. In fact, none of the components make the slighest bit of sense when taken as a supposedly cohesive menu.

in the late sixties and seventies that menu was quite acceptable, now of course we all deem ourselves to be on a higher plane, but prawn cocktail was all the rage.....when your older maybe you will read someone slagging off some of today's dishes, everything, and everyone has their day!

@TheRenaissanceman65You're just a contrarian. Your usually defending Cradock. Weird.

Mrs Troake’s menu was perfectly acceptable at the time. That is the point - at the time. FC treated her with disdain and was utterly horrid to a lady doing her best. FC wasn’t trained formally herself!
