Big Whitehack fan here but can't disagree with your critiques. Think you hit the nail on the head with the comment about this being fine for folks who've followed the game for the last decade, but not ideal for anyone else. Would still recommend giving it a go at the table though. It's honestly not as over-engineered as it appears once in play. As an aside, would love to hear you cover Agon if you get chance. After having many of the same feelings about Blades In The Dark as you did, I was pleasantly surprised with what a simple and well explained game Harper had managed to produce this time around

@@mattreekie1982 Thank you! Kinda felt like I was taking crazy pills, so glad we weren't completely off base. Agon is on our list. I LOVE World of Dungeons and Lasers & Feelings from John Harper, so BitD is definitely the aberration.

I was so disappointed by the glossy cover too and the move from the digest size to the larger format. The Whitehack 3e hardcover was such an elegant tome when stripped of its jacket.

Dang I was sorta hoping you'd review the game after playing it. Even a one shot. I've heard good things about whitehack

We've heard good things as well! This is definitely one we want to do a SideQuest for and actually get it to the table, so keep an eye out.

What's the name of the witehack/blackhack mix? Can't understand it well

Y'all should take a look at Crown by Mason Waaler -- it's like a less abstract Whitehack (for Fantasy). I think it would be more up your alley in terms of being "playable"

@@imjoshellis I'll check it out! And I don't mind how abstract Whitehack is. The somewhat heady concepts are the thing I like most. It's really jsut how those concepts are communicated.
