I woke up one morning, and tuned in Don Imus's MSNBC show on the TV. He had Levon on, and after the set wrapped up, Don said, "If you don't do nothing else in your life, go get a ticket to Levon's Midnight Ramble, which is a concern and Jam Session held every Saturday night at Levon's Home and studio in Woodstock, NY. You'll always be glad you did." So I went right out, bought two tickets, and drove up there from Maryland to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my wife. It was one of the highlights of my musical life. Got to talk to Levon, shake his hand and thank him for all the joy he'd brought to my life. He was just the nicest man you can imagine. And Imus was right, I am still glad I did. ;-)

For me, Levon Helm is one of the all-time great musicians. Besides his phenomenal drum skills combined with his soulfull Southern voice, he brought music that touched the heart directly. So pure, enlightening, fragile and powerful at the same time. Levon Helm brought real life to the stage with his music in a humble way and full of gentleness. The joy for the music and letting the other band members excel. All that was Levon at his very best. Thank you Levon of what you gave me and the world. You are a jewel that I will cherish forever.

@Teri Woodyard: Well - just to strike a balance here - surely the product of nature in a material universe - nothing more and, just as importantly, nothing less. Bringing a mythical entity like a "god" into your comment simply detracts from the value of the real people on stage. They are real, after all, and not figments of your imagination. I agree with your statement regarding the talent - that certainly is there, in troves.
@teriwoodyard3722

@@patrickobrien8851 OH Patrick, your "need" to immediately take nothing more from my comment (in regard to the subject) only enforces my opinion that you are "terrified to fall into the loving arms of such a POWERFUL GOD" I will be praying for you and I certainly hope you have the courage to humble yourself and admit that you "really believe 😊"
@patrickobrien8851
2 жыл бұрын
@@teriwoodyard3722 "It enforces your opinion", and that is fine - believing in mythical entities such as gods is also on the same level, and has a comparable validity to, opinion. Believing or not believing in a mythical entity has nothing to do with humility unless you are prepared to entertain the fallacy that believers expect the rest of the rational world to subscribe to the superstition of that which has not one single shred of proof that would hold up to any close, precise, or reproducible examination. My comment regarding your comment is simply to provide a counterweight to the propagandizing of make-believe characters as entities of some importance, which they are not. Religion has for too long held an unearned position of privilege in our national discourse, which we both understand is simply an accident of history. Education, which is one antidote to superstition, will increasingly undermine that privilege in the decades to come. The ancient Romans and Greeks, just to mention two early cultures, were certain of their gods, yet no one believes in them now. However, the science of Archimedes and Pythagoras, and the geometry of Euclid were contemporary intellectual systems that have survived, because they are rooted in the provable frameworks of the material universe. In like manner, therefore, the gods of the Christians, the Muslims, and the Jews will fade in significance in the coming generations, but Euclid et. al. will always be relevant.

@@patrickobrien8851 you DO go on! The subject was "the talent on ONE stage". I choose to believe I "have SEEN" evidence of My God. You are free to choose whether you believe or not. Just remember that when you SEE The Savior "face to face". He has sustained ridicule from the likes of you for over 2000 years and yet, He still stands while all who "chose not" are no where to be found. I will not debate the reality of redemption or even The existence of My God. I will however be unable to sleep until I pray for you. May The Most High God reveal himself to you in a most powerful and demonstrative way! All glory and praise and power be to Him who is worthy, now and forever. Amen and amen 🙏

@@teriwoodyard3722 You are misusing words here. You don't have actual "evidence" of a god - you simply have an opinion, or a belief, a fanciful concoction of the mind. As you say - you choose to believe - but that does not make it real. Believers don't "debate" - they simply make unprovable claims. Reciting superstitious chants such as [May The Most High God reveal himself to you in a most powerful and demonstrative way! All glory and praise and power be to Him who is worthy, now and forever. Amen and amen] may make you feel more secure in an unknowable universe but - and I want to emphasize this - it does not make the associated god real in any shape or form. I have no issue with your private beliefs. My only expectation is that our public policies respect the separation of church and state and limit the mumbo-jumbo to the personal private lives of those who believe in it. That's not too much to expect in a politically secular state, right?

Nazareth in this song refers to Nazareth Pennsylvania, the home of the Martin guitar factory. It’s just north of us in Bethlehem. When emmylou came to Easton to play at the state theater, mark knoffler ordered Martin to deliver a guitar
