The idea a Volvo is powerful enough to play Volvo S40 Racing is both concerning and fascinating.

Can I replace my C70s Tape Deck with this PC. I need answers 👀

What's the most impressive to me is that when running Doom, the entire package uses 6W while the GPU uses just over 5W, which means the rest of the CPU (x86 cores and uncore) consume less than 1W while running Doom. That's incredibly efficient, and it's not even the most efficient Atom-core based CPU there is
@GraveUypo
Жыл бұрын
that's not really efficient, it's just power restricted. using low power doesn't make it automatically efficient. it's missing the second part of the equation: speed. compared to mobile ryzen + rdna2 apus (like the one in steam deck) restricted at 5w, this is super slow.

Intel GPUs of that time is indeed surprisingly ineffective. By the way, I completed DOOM 2016 on a Kaby Lake iGPU, and the artifacts on the edges of the screen in Vulkan is not the only problem. Game runs somewhat stable only for about 10 minutes and then completely locks up. I ended up using OpenGL

@@FullyBuffered I've had this same idea in the back of my head for YEARS. Why can't I just go and buy a nice car seat (perhaps even one with the heated and cooled seat functions intact) and strap it to a office chair frame? I wouldn't mind if the chair had to be plugged in for the heated and cooled functions but MAN would it be nice. Waiting for Linus Tech Tips to do a video like this haha.

I had this N3450 with 4GB of RAM in a horrible Asus laptop. I used ThrottleStop to lock it at 2.1ghz(max all-core boost) all the time and somehow the GPU also never throttled. I think OEMs were free to set power management the way they wanted and Asus decided not to restrict the GPU too much. I remember it used up to 10W when gaming. It was ok for old games like Half-Life 2 and GTA Vice City which I played at max settings at 1366x768. The newest game that worked well on it was Grid Autosport from 2014, which I suspect has some optimization for Intel HD Graphics because the HD Graphics logo shows up when you start the game. It ran at Low-Medium settings with 30-50 fps. The chip was otherwise only good for web browsing and media playback. I attempted to edit video on it in Premiere and even short 720p clips took minutes to render.

I have the quad core version Z3470 (Base 1.33Ghz & Turbo 1.86Ghz) in an Asus notebook still running in 2022! Only has 2GB of RAM which sucks tho. It works fine for basic things like office applications, web browsing and YT!

The Embedded chips are in now way really comparable to any desktop or mobile version of them, they offer up alot of features normal cpus dont usually have, the car editions have massive amount of GPIO, specific silicone addons for hardware OBD type systems, and usually a "back channel" that allows for flashing the system from any state to any state, further there cooling in a car is tricky, the cars CPU might well be clocked at X but its configured down to the lowest TDP they can get away with, and to make sure they boot snappy they simply load a firmware image rather than booting the OS, if you actually reset an Infotainment system you will note the process takes about 30 mins. Your compairing a cooking apple to an apple, but informataive none the less

I'm not sure what the specifications are for the Chevy infotainment unit it, but I know it runs Windows CE.You can unlock the debugger options and show desktop. I've done it before on a 2013 Spark, also the same in my 2015 Sonic. with the USB access It may run the original Doom. I just don't want to risk bricking my unit. Most of the comments on the video showing the unlock code say they brick their unit trying to change the splash screen.

i installed a dreamcast emulator in my car infotainment. sonic adventure runs at 300% speed if uncapped. my car is also the only place i have played diablo immortal in. not because it's super good to play there, but because it was the first place i tried it before deciding i didn't want to play that. i also installed xcloud and played forza horizon and flight simulator in it. i leave one of my cheap bluetooth controllers permanently in my car now. you never know when i'll going to have to wait for hours in a traffic jam, or a queue for something important (like covid vaccine not two years ago, i wish i had this back then), or break down in a remote road and have to wait hours for rescue.

I wonder if it could be possible to get higher ram speeds off the platform, maybe with a modded BIOS. Undervolting could help a wee bit in terms of power consumption and heat.
