all this reminds me of 7 yrs ago lol. even the sideways top mount batt. nothing new here. but newer firmwares certainly would help. is that a dsmx spek sat ur using as welll?! flashbacks hard

Agreed this was a fad in 2015-2016 that faded hard due to obvious reasons.

If you normally use leaded solder then when trying to de-solder factory components that use lead free solder (hoter melting point) you should bump the temp up a bit and then you can use a bit of leaded solder to get the flow going also flux helps a ton! Cool build man!

Thanks for the tips! I did use a bit of leaded solder and had the temp maxed out, so in this case I really think it was a soldering iron wattage issue

How do you manage the Karman vortices from the tube arms relative to the tune?
@TimmyRC

Karman vortices only occur within a certain range of Reynolds numbers. Doing a quick calculation, the Reynolds number for the Tubular Quad arms is way higher than the range where Karman vortices occur. Practically, I've never experienced any tuning anomalies with the Tubular Quad.

Great build like it very much . Now do you think when is time to buy the motors for a build similar to this one when ordering motors maybe the motors wires are long enough so is no need to add and solder wires ?. And if they don't come that long maybe it can be order to that specific length? Thank you.

Thanks! If I ever have Timmy RC motors I will make sure they come with longer wires!

the mistake a lot of noobies soldering make is they try to de-solder stuff DRY.. if you tin your iron before you de-solder it transfers more heat into the joint you are DE soldering..

Thanks for the tip! I did tin the iron multiple times to get as much heat as I could into the joint, but in this specific instance I think I just needed more wattage.
